sorry, i'm new to the forum and would really like to try this rom. i'm just at a loss on how to do this part: Run the Odin Jellybean restore on your phone. This will take a while. my question is how do i do this? again sorry for the noob question. thanks for your help!

Alright, so what you do is....

1.Install the Samsung driver
2. Download all the necessities
3. Turn your phone off and do power+volume down and plug phone in
4. Run the _Rooted_Restore.exe The one you downloaded and wait until it shows color on the odin program

5. It should do the rest/ Might take awhile
6. When phone reboots/ Run the other Odin program- Labeled odin3

7. select pda button- go and find your tar file with the recovery and start
8. Then turn off and do power+volume up and Go into the mounts and storage menu and format the following: Cache, System, Data.
9. Install your amazing ROM and enjoy!

Any more questions, feel free to ask!

Sincerely, Scott sahinkaya

Also, if you need the Download files they will be under me()

Installation instructions:

-Install the samsung drivers
-Download Odin
-Download ODIN JellyBean Restore (.exe, not .md5)
-Download Garwynn's recovery (tar version)
-Turn off your phone
-Hold power+volume down to get into Odin download mode and hit continue
-Plug in your phone to your computer
-Run the Odin Jellybean restore on your phone. This will take a while.
-After that's all done, and your phone has rebooted, go back into Odin download mode, open the Odin program you downloaded, select PDA, choose the agat's recovery you just downloaded (should be a .tar file) and push agats recovery to your phone.

(This will cause the yellow triangle, but that can be fixed using the included TriangleAway app.)

How to flash:
-Download the latest MidnightRom Version
-Turn off the phone again
-Hold power+volume up until the Samsung Galaxy SII logo pops up.
-Go into the mounts and storage menu and format the following: Cache, System, Data.
(Be careful not to format EMMC as will erase your internal memory card!)
-Go back and select install zip from SD card
-Choose zip from either internal or external depending on where you put the rom.zip file
-Flash it
-After it's done just reboot into system and enjoy!

thanks scotty51, the only thing that gave me a problem was this part: (Plug in your phone to your computer-Run the Odin Jellybean restore on your phone. This will take a while.) for whatever reason i plugged my phone to the pc and then start the program but the program wouldn't see my phone. i just unplugged the phone and connected it again, this time it recognized my phone and the rest was simple. thanks for your help.

I was also wondering if you could deodex this rom so we can theme if we wanted

It is!

-All files are super optimized for better memory management and speed

it says it but I'm not sure it really truly is because anything I try to change like battery icon or boot animation it doesn't change it at all......
It is. Just change the files in the systemui.apk file (I think its there)
The WiFi tether mod keeps force closing, what do i do?
Odd....fresh install?

The Video Player app also force closes when I open it from the app drawer as well.

Fresh install?

The WiFi tether mod keeps force closing, what do i do?

Mine did this too. I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled from a link I found at the XDA Developers forum.

Link to the WifiTether_TrevE_Mod_11_22_2012_driverReload2.apk file I downloaded:
WifiTether_TrevE_Mod_11_22_2012_driverReload2.apk | by TrevE for Galaxy S 3_VZW

These are the settings I use that work for my phone:

Device-Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Setup-Method: Netd-Ndc (master)
Send Netd Max Client Cmd: Yes
WiFi-driver reload 2: Yes
Keep Alive - Connection Checking: Yes
Routing fix: Yes
Disable Wake-Lock: Yes

Working on a new update.
Mainly....
-Removed a bunch of files that weren't needed anymore
-Removed video editor (Really isn't needed as it kinda sucks >.< Any computer can do the same thing)
-Removed samsung boot animation files and replaced

-MMS fixes:
better compression (maybe)
larger image height/width sending (maybe)
larger file size sending (2mb up from 300kb) (maybe)
changed time of received messages to sent time not the moment when you actually received it
SMS hour limit now set to 1000 (maybe)
enabled screen on/off toggle, vibration, and sig options

-Better battery life (Removed a bunch of scripts that kept the phone awake all the time)
-Build.prop tweaks
-Update kernel to 1.4.2f
-Removed default Samsung keyboard (BLEH) and replaced with Google Keyboard (Pain in the butt to actually do this, but now default everything is 100% more awesome :D)
-Fixed some FC's
-Removed Video Player, replaced with MX Video Player
-Updated some apps
-Possible "Capacitive key ghosting" fix

And lots more ^_^
It's still in testing but it should come out tonight!

I might pass out soon, so it'll be here in about an hour and a half
