Use phone from computer?

kind of weird I know, but my screen/digitizer is completely destroyed and I still need to use my phone. It turns on, makes noises, gets signal (I assume because i can still hear it getting calls/notifications. I remember a long time ago I had some program where I could essentially use my phone through my computer.... let me explain.

It seems like I was connected via USB, running a program, and said program allowed me to "use" my phone from the computer (send messages, run apps, check email etc.). Ultimately, since my phone is royally f'ed and the screen doesn't work, I could still use the computer to make calls and send messages (and hopefully make a new TiBu).

Is there any way I can do this or am I just imagining things?

here is an idea, try using a mhl cable to output the display on a tv. maybe the touchscreen still works? if not, you will need to figure out how to feed an input into it like a bluetooth mouse, but you will need to pair it.
Is your titanium backup on a schedule? if so, just wait until the scheduled time.
you may also be able to backup your phone with adb or wugs

Ok so here's an update, (and thank you to everyone who's tried to help so far): This is a much tougher problem than I had initially thought, and I don't think I made some of the details very clear in the beginning.

The display / glass / digitizer are entirely non-functional. the phone turns on, receives calls and messages, makes noise, but is impossible to interact with because the display does not turn on and the digitizer does not work. This rules out the possibile solutions greatly such as airdroid and My Phone Explorer, as well as doing anything over USB/wifi, including ADB...

Now some of you are saying "what???!? you're wrong, you can use ADB for everything as long as you have ADB enabled!" Such as I thought, and I thought wrong. Android 4.2.2 has a new security feature by which you must "allow" ADB to run on your phone regardless of the fact that you have previously enabled it... what this means for me is I am unable to send commands to it, for example to run any apps that would help, cannot backup/push/do anything with WUGS, or basically do anything that would let me have access to the phone.

As far as I can tell im pretty much screwed other than booting blindly into the bootloader and trying to make something happen from there, but the whole idea behind this is I want my missed calls and text messages as they are rather important... so wiping or reflashing doesn't help. I don't know if anyone else has found themselves in this pickle but if anyone has any ideas lets have it.
