yeah, what does that mean? I was afraid I was going to have to move on, as I haven't been able to get rid of the system ui crashes that render my phone inoperable. The quickest way I have found to bring it back, is go into recovery and flash something like a kernel. But I have to do this sometimes a couple of times a day.

I hope it's a new version, or an update or something.

Yeah, any update that takes care of the system ui problem would be awesome. That's the only problem I have with 5.4.

Anyone try this? Is this a ROM that wasn't built by eagle? For whatever reason IRC isn't letting me log in, so haven't been able to check there.

Currently rockin' Sourceress and it seems like a great ROM! Panorama mode is still borked, but I can live without it (for awhile) until a fix comes in.

Another classic, Eagle and crew (or whoever did it)!

EDIT: Uh, does anyone know what this "Crystal Ball" is and what it does? I'm trying to figure it out...

This is a smooth build. Chief I played with the Crystal Ball and it adds a floating notification on your screen.

PS... don't know why CWM vs TWRP would make a difference, but I have used CWM for the last two installs and have had no system ui crashes. FYI, may be worth a try if anyone is still having this problem. Make sure after installing CWM, that you immediately make a backup.

Yeah, I'm figuring out this Crystal Ball thing and it IS pretty clever

However, I have noticed that it is a persistent little booger! For example: I use the Bedside app as my nightstand clock at night. After a few minutes it blacks out into screensaver mode, only to display if I touch the screen or move the phone. But sitting in that nice black screen all night is the Crystal Ball! That's gonna be trouble (i.e. screen burn) if it doesn't follow the screen blanking.

Just a thought...

I don't know what is up, but my phone has just not liked these last 3 ROM's. I didn't even get through loading my apps from play store before it did a systemui crash, and then it kept crashing every free seconds.

I factory reset 3 times, wiped cache, dalvik cache and system 3 times, and used super wipe 5 times prior to loading.

I don't know if it's a rogue app that is doing, and not sure if there is a way to tell. Found it interesting that I didn't even get my apps loaded before it started.

Lol. I could have written your post word for word. I'm still having exactly the same problem. I did manage to get 5.4 working with an older SystemUI.apk, but I found a few problems with that. I finally just gave up and restored my 5.1.9.1 backup. That's the latest version that doesn't give the UI problems. It's frustrating, I want to play around with some of the stuff in 5.5 I'm starting to suspect one of my apps too, just have no idea what one. I never had a problem until 5.3

I'm on another rom (heck, I'm on another phone!) but without throwing rocks at any devs, I'd check what 3rd party browsers you may be using. For example, Boat Browser was causing a lot of issues for me. Took a while to find that.

If you get time to run this rom without extra apps installed, you'll know that your suspicion is correct, an incompatible app somewhere.

Oh, I hope it wasn't coming off as I was throwing rocks. That is about as far from the truth as can be. I have been super happy with this ROM. So much so, that I just keep living with the systemui crashes, that cripple my phone, because I don't want to leave.

Thanks, The only 3rd party browser that I have installed is Dolphin, but I have a ton of other apps that could be causing the problem.

I probably need to start with a new install and stop the play store from restoring. Then just install one app at a time and see what happens. Just need to find time to do it.

Back on Sourcery with W/magic gapps. 1st day had 1 glitch, (lost wifi) did a battery pull, 48 hours later...nothing to report except This is as stable as they come.....Awesome work guys!!!!!

5.5 now for 3 days and not a single UI crash. This thing just WORKS for me. My only issue is the panorama mode. And if that's the only thing I can find wrong in a ROM of this magnitude, it's an awesome ROM

Well 5.5 had its first UI crash for me today. I was really hoping Sourceress had it fixed. Guess not. Could be an app conflict but if so why doesn't it happen in 5.2? Not related to screen rotation as it is locked. Just randomly quits.

had a weird one myself. Went out sailing last night, phone battery died during the night. However, afterwards, it simply would not boot past the animation (I have the boot ani disabled so it's just the Android text. I let it sit there for almost 15 minutes. Figured that maybe I just hadn't let it charge up far enough. Let it charge fully, battery pull, nothing. Booted into recovery, wiped Cache, it updated apps, but then on stuck on "starting apps" or whatever, never booted. I ended up backing to my 5.4 Encore version from June 21st, and it loaded fine. Was the first time I had let the battery die completely on Sourceress, so I don't know if it was a coincidence, or what, but,....was strange.

hey guys, im loving the rom but ive been getting random reboots like crazy. Idk what to do (yea i clean install the sorceress rom). i told boype (fancy kernel dev) to see if he can help also. I may just say eff it and have to get an iphone lol lol lol, an iphone i crack myself up lmfao. but seriously about to spend the next few wiping cleaner than a babys butt...lol

Clean installed the latest version and my phone and contacts would not show up anywhere. I guess it's time to move on after many months loving this ROM. Best wishes to the developers and many thanks for their efforts.

Yeah I did. I think the problem happened when I tried to change the layout/colors of the dialer.

probably have to drag the new dialer/contacts(people) apps from the app drawer onto the desktop

Correct. The only things that disappeared were the phone and people icons. Drag & drop them from the app drawer to the homescreen and all will be well

First of all, thanks to the developers of this ROM and all of the hard work put forth. It's the best!

I'm still running 5.2 which is the best ROM I've ever used. It's absolutely perfect. But like always, I want the absolute best performance and battery combination I can achieve so now I'm focusing on kernels. I've used several kernels with it (for several days at a time), and I always come back to the stock Sourcerizer kernel. FWIW, my favorite kernel besides the stock was the Fancy kernel. My battery has never lasted longer and the performance was great. That came after some tweaks to the settings. But for some reason, my Bluetooth streaming to my car suffered. I switched back and forth several times and it was always a problem.

I'd like to know what settings people are using on the stock Sourcerizer kernel and what those tweaks accomplished (better battery usage, performance, both). BTW, my goal is mainly better battery with the kernel. Performance is already great.
