Root [WARNING] - Don't Use Rom Manager

That's weird because I actually did install ROM Manager and it didn't brick my phone. Of course I have to say I didn't and still don't really know what IM doing when it comes to rooting and installing new ROM so there may have been a step I didn't do or something but as soon as I saw dadcups post I immediately uninstalled it. So thank you for the warning

Installing ROM manager is not the issue, its when you go to use ROM manager that cause's the problems.

For the last few years I've noticed ROM manager doesn't work with a lot of Metro PCS phones. Is this problem carrier specific or does this happen often? I just find it funny how i always see a rom manager sticky thread for a metro pcs phone.

Nah it has nothing to do with the carrier, its because there isn't a ready made recovery in ROM manager for this phone other devices ... Reason for the sticky is to alert those and remind them not to use ROM manager on the specific device.

It has been reported by Dadcup that rom manager will brick your device "Permanently", which means it will not boot and its practically "Paperweight/ Useless or A Piece Of Brick".....
For the sake of those who are desperate for CWM Recovery please don't try this, This device is not compatible with rom manager!;)

Does anyone know if this is still the case? And if so, could you provide a link to a comparable recovery program? I can't seem to get the old links in other threads to work. I have the ZTE Avid rooted, and want to flash a rom to get it to 4.1 at least (or better if I could). I appreciate any and all assistance, since I am a relatively noob when it comes to installing recovery and flashing roms.

Try philz recovery also to all the reason why it isnt vomoatible is because CyanogenMod dont make recoveries fir the phone if you flash anything even gapps from the app, then say hello to the new Avid Paperweight were all u can see is nothing lol
