Root Anyone using carbon ROM?

Realize I'm popping in late, but I figure others could still get some use from it.

I agree with El Presidente, switched to it from Xylon after using Paranoid Android, CM 10.1, AOKP, PAC, Project ELE, etc, etc and haven't thought of going back once.

The new Halo feature in PA got me to switch for a day to try it out but I'm already back to a Carbon backup I kept. Fast, extremely customizable, great battery life, tons of features done right and fun to tweak around on to make your phone look how you want it. It incorporates the best of CM, AOKP, PA and more.

It's definitely worth a try in my opinion, I don't see any reason you'd regret it!

Well, I just tried it after running, and being quite happy with, |Rom||AOSP||E.L.E||4.2.2||Mako|.
Ran just long enough for me to restore a TiBu backup but then it crapped out.
After rebooting and swiping up on the lock and not going home, the system just sat there until the UI rebooted.
I rebooted several times and did a dirty flash with the same results.
I liked what I saw for the few minutes I had it but I'm back to E.L.E, which hasn't given me a moments trouble thus far.
Might try PA soon.

I'd similar issues on my Nexus 7 and Carbon jabba, what version did you install on your N4? I'm using 1.7 with no problems.
I flashed 1.7 also, along with the latest JB GAPPS.
I'm always game for trying a new ROM, and working through any glitchiness or quirks but, once I'm basically locked out from even being able to open the door, I'm moving on.
It was really strange. There were a couple of times I could get past the lock screen only to have a black home screen with unresponsive soft and hard keys. The Status Bar icons and the battery bar were active and working normally though.

I'm of a similar opinion, always game to try a new ROM. Totally understand your reasoning.

Shame, Carbon is a great ROM otherwise.

LiquidSmooth was giving me some issues with some of my games i play...so i went to Xylon...which is effing perfect for me...has all the little customizations that i like having

Notification Power Widgets, Carrier Label change...6 x 6 pattern for lockscreen...and being able to fully customize the nav bar buttons i.e. Long Press actions etc etc

Just use the latest one on the front page of Goo.im. That's what I did iirc.

Ok. When i go to "Download gapps packages" it asks me if I want to download the latest google apps for your device.
If I click yes then it brings me to a gapps file named gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip.

If I click no then it takes me to a long list of files. Your saying to download the top one here?

Thanks

I cant decide between carbon and slimbean.

My preference of the two is Carbon (mentioned before). Although I'm getting used to SlimPie as I try ROM after ROM, I really like PA Pie and it comes packaged in Carbon. Someone correct me if I'm wrong (haven't used Slim too lately), but Carbon has a good bit more in the way of customization options. I think Slim is mostly just that; Slim. But I did like it, felt quick and fairly tweakable, but Carbon always feels solid to me and I am a sucker for options. Others may disagree, but that's my experience with the two. Everyone's taste is different on this subject.

But like always, throw a good kernel underneath either of them and you'll love it either way you go. I'm not sure what kernel comes with Slim.

Happy flashing!

I know almost everyone has eyes on 4.3 but for those still on 4.2 CarbonRom has a new update.
