New Plan details and Unlimited Data lifetime speculation.

Yes, If I were to switch to this it would likely increase my bill $10-$20. If they don't change the discount policy that is. Right now my discount is based off of the 69.99 base rate and if it switches to this, then the base will drop to 50.

Oh, I see. Only thing is, there was no indication that they're getting rid of the 79.99 plan (including premium data fee), was there?

Someone pointed out on the article that the "add-a-line" already indicates pricing for a family, so that would mean an increase for me as well...LOL...I didn't even realize that there's potential that they're doing away with family plans all together.

I love the current structure of my plan where my only limitation is calls to landlines from 7am-7pm and there's more than enough minutes to cover my landline calls each month.

It's officially announced:

Sprint announces new Unlimited My Way and All-in plans

Sprint Launches Unlimited Guarantee and New Unlimited, My Way Plan | Sprint Newsroom

I'm still a little confused though.

1st, you're supposed to select how many lines:

If you notice, only the 4-10 phone tier has the "ea." meaning $20 each line. The 2 and 3 line prices, don't have that indicated next to them. Does that mean if you have 2 lines it's $90 and 3 lines is $80, to start?

I'm just trying to figure out if it'll cost me $140 w/ 3 lines, 2 having unlimited data and the 3rd not having data or if it will cost me $170, 2 having unlimited data (difference being $30 per additional line vs. $30 for 2 additional lines combined)

I personally have a family plan with 3 lines, only 2 with premium data. On the new plan,

It kind of makes me curious about the whole "for life guarantee". I wonder if they'll just pull a Verizon when they want people to stop using it, meaning no subsidized upgrades if you want to keep the plan.

Definitely a price increase, and puts them in Verizon/ATT pricing tier. Don't think this is such a smart move with the network the way it is.

It seems that every time Sprint introduces these new plans that somewhere down they the line they will be required in order to upgrade to the next phone. I don't like the way this is going. I also see this as a price increase. If it becomes a requirement, I think I will have to take a closer look at T-Mobile. Over the last four years with Sprint my bill has increased more than $50.00. If the service was good, I would not complain. I will wait and see what happens.

A quick comparison of a basic family plan with 5 "smartphones" ($240 + taxes/fees) compared with the new and "IMPROVED" plan ($280 + taxes/fees). While I have been pleased with Sprint customer service, and they have provided my with an Airave because of poor signal in my home, Afraid this would generate need to actively do some realistic cost AND coverage comparisons at times of renewal!! Not good for Sprint (glad I sold my Sprint stock!)

Also, it appears that navigation is not included, Is that correct? What do people who use that feature do if they have this new and "improved" program?

WARNING - I JUST READ THIS ON SPRINT'S SITE -

FAQs about the Unlimited, My WaySM plan and the My All-inSM plan

I have a discount through my employer. Does my employer discount work with the new plans?

Discounts apply to the monthly data charge rather than the primary rate plan for lines on the Unlimited, My Way plan. The My All-in plan is non-discountable.

-----

Example -

Old Plan = $70.99/Month x 22% Discount = $62.39/Month + Taxes and Fees

New Plan = $80/Month x 22% Discount on $30 Data Piece Only = $73.40/Month + Taxes and Fees

Difference = $11.01/Month + Taxes and Fees

of course the "New Plan" includes Unlimited Landline Talk and "Old Plan" does not.

i like Sprint - been with them since 2008 - but i'm gone in a few months. i want a Nexus direct from the Play Store and i want the freedom of a BYOD carrier. and i don't want to be locked into contracts. hence - AT&T Go Phone Unlimited Talk/Text and 2GB Plan for $60/Month + Next New Nexus is where i'm headed. any downsides to this?

Yeah, based on what they have released on the plans, I am going to see a pretty significant increase in my bill. I have 4 lines, all with premium unlimited data. Right now, I pay around $220/month before taxes. When all is said and done, my monthly bill is around $250. Using this new plan, I am now going to have to pay $260/month plus taxes and fees, which will likely push my monthly bill over $300.

Looks like some people on my account are going to have to start paying their own portion. I can't eat yet another price increase.

---
OK, I thought I was being forced into the new plans. I see that I can continue with my existing plan, I just don't have the guarantee of unlimited data in the future if I don't switch plans. I wonder if they are only offering these new unlimited plans for a short time? I'm not interested in switching to one right now with 4 lines, but once my son gets his own line, I could swing it.

Ok, so everybody is talking about them but okay this is my situation with my current plan

I have 5 lines and all smartphones
Unlimited everything except minutes (1500 mins for landlines)
total = $307 including taxes and surcharges

New Plan According to the representative I talk to

Darryl S.: (1 Line)$50.00 + (2nd Line)$40.00 + (3rd Line) $30.00 + (4th Line) $20.00 + (5th Line) $20.00 + ($30.00 per line you want unlimited on)
Darryl S.: Total would be : $310.00 + taxes and surcharges. (Please keep in mind, the plan is for unlimited calling at any time, texting and data as well. even for landline.)

So for me is not cheap....I mean it does give you unlimited landline calls but i have 1500 minutes share in those 5 lines and we never get close to finishing it
so basically this plan is for people who call landlines a lot.

it just tries to get you somehow in my opinion...Guarantee staying unlimited forever? The day that happen Ill sell my Sprint stocks when I hear rumors and then switch to tmobile...lol

I have a good feeling their unlimited data won't be there for a while. Why else would would their new plans guarantee unlimited everything for life? If thats the case than i'm moving to T-Mobile or metroPCS after my contract is done. Funny to because I just got out of metro...

There won't be a MetroPCS by the time your contract expires. T-Mobile bought them out, remember? Full takeover expected by end of Summer.

Anyone else seeing this as a price increase?
I see a penny increase.

I'm still taking in these new plans. Right now I'm on the two lines for $149.99. Will I still be grandfathered in the Fall of 2015 when my contract is up for renewal or will my bill go up?
The new plan will benefit you. You will pay a penny more but you will get unlimited everything.

I was on the phone with Sprint CSR. I have some good news about the new unlimited plan. You don't have to change to the new plan right now, so you keep your current discount. If you change to one of the unlimited plan you will only get your corporate discount on the data plan only.

Or if you go to use an annual/biennial subsidized upgrade, they will happily update your contract to the new plan scheme without even telling you they are doing it, and you may loose your discount benefit.

I might be in the spot where I only buy phones at full price off contract now to try to avoid the new contract scheme. The problem is that I'm on a family plan, and someone else is liable to do a blind upgrade without knowing what it entails, thus updating me anyway :(

If you get a new upgrade you don't have to change your plan at all. Just make sure that don't change your plan when they upgrade.
