Since it charges fine in a car charger, your port has to be fine... if it failed consistently with the all sources it would likely be the port. I would suggest getting a quality charger with a minimum of 1A (1000mA) output and a new cable, they are dirt cheap, in fact on Amazon you can find an original HTC OEM charger for around $5-$10 (HTC P/N's CNR6300 and cable P/N DICMUSB) with free shipping.
The way I went was a quality, generic microUSB cable (well, actually, it's a Motorola cable) and this Laza Charger/Battery kit :
Amazon.com: Laza Zcell 1750mah HTC Rezound 2x Battery + Charger + Travel Case Combo: Cell Phones & Accessories and I have a charger, and if I can't charge, I just swap out batteries.
Also, if you think HTC is the only one that chargers or charge ports fail, you need to think again, in my experience HTC is no more trouble prone than any other brand, and I work in a business where I support hundreds of smart phones for customers for a variety of UC product integrations and in-house for general use by our staff as part of IT Dept, from iPhones, Samsungs, Motorolas, HTCs, LGs, and others, the HTCs are no more trouble than any other manufacturer... it's a "the grass is always greener on the other side" thing.
