Anyone got the New Version of Maps Yet ..?

Goold luck with hat.

I've found that Google app updates get forced through if you continue to ignore them: a bunch of updates for apps I don't use that I'd been ignoring for a couople of months all updated themselves on Monday. Despite me not having done anything with them.

Also the auto-update over WiFi setting was turned on which really ticks me off, because last time things started auto-updating I took quite some time going through everything turning auto-update off.

I've just turned off auto-update - again - and gone through the apps uninstalling the updates - now going to wait and see how long before they get forced through again ..

UPDATE: finally got it this morning :D

I haven't actually used it in anger yet, but I had a quick play around with it and so far, I kinda like it. The interface is much cleaner. I have a feeling there are some things that were there before that are now missing, but I can't recall what they are so I clearly didn't use them much ;)

Is it me or have the actually maps changed as well as the interface? They look .. different

I like the way traffic data is shown by default - I mean: why would you not want to see it (at least, while driving)?

Must try to remember to turn in on for my trip home, see how navigation works in real life :D

There might be a way to get these locations from My Maps in the app of Google Maps as starred places, using a KML export of the web-based Google Maps.

I tried this with POIs in a KML file of Google Earth ... imported the KML file in the app 'Maps With Me' and I had all POIs as the app's own POIs. This might work with a lot of others GPS apps.

But now begins the hard work part of the way ... copy the coordinates of each POI in the search bar of the Google Maps app.

Okay, because of this bad last part of it is only a theoretical approach for me :)
At least the GPS app should launch Maps with the location shown ... I'll look for such a GPS app :)

Oh, BTW 'Map With Me' uses offline maps and has an offline search, could be handy overseas without a data connection :)

So . . . I learned they removed access to my saved maps. The "My Maps" feature. I use this all the time and Google pulled an Apple by making it look prettier, but work worse.

I uninstalled the update, but come'on man?!?!
Now might be the time for to look for an offline GPS app which is able to import the saved locations of the former My Maps.
'Maps With Me' does this exactly :)

I uninstalled as well. I really wanted to go back to having the zoom buttons on the front of the map. Thanks for the heads up about uninstalling the update.

Hi all-
I am quite disappointed with not being able to fix the bugs in the new version of Google Maps. I used to like having a direct widget to GPS on my home screen... is it me being unable to find it or is the option to add that now gone?
Also, crashes EVERY time I've used it. "Unfortunately Google Maps has stopped working". I've tried a few fixes but can't seem to get it going without the bugs.
I rely heavily on my phone's GPS but it's become quite unreliable... usually dropping the navigation for no reason at all... and usually when I come to a fork in the road... LOL
