Play Movies & TV & the SD Card

I bought a movie last week through the Google Play Movies & TV app, with the intention of downloading it to my Tab 3 onto the SD card to watch later in a location where I wouldn't have wifi. However I can't find any option to save the video to the external SD card and there wasn't enough room on the primary storage for the file.

Is there something I'm missing here?

I disagree - I think, after more reading and research, that it's one more step by Google to forcing us to keep everything in the cloud and stream everything, which is a disservice as far as I'm concerned. I like and use the cloud services, but think this must have been an oops because it would be a problem even on the Nexus line.
