Root [GUIDE] Unbrick/Upgrade Optimus V [EASY] [KDZ]

So I've done everything as directed. When I get the error msg, my phone is still saying "do not unplug, downloading", or something to that effect, as it's off charging now. When I press the power button, nothing happens. I've got to hold it, and it boots up as normal. "Normal" being whats it's being doing the last few days - freezing on the Android "always back up before flashing" sequence. Am I misunderstanding something in this process?

I'm a newb just so everyone knows from the start.

I've read through a bunch of threads on this. I have two VM670's that are doing the same thing. The are stuck in bootloop. Can't get into the recovery menu. Can get into the emergency mode and tried the unbrick instructions at the top of the thread several times on both. Get the same errors that getsuga121 gets. Get an 84 the first download and then an 89 the second when when it does phone reset. When it does the phone reset, the phones immediately goes into the bootloop again. Batteries are good. I have a third VM670 that works fine so I know the batteries are good.

I've also tried playing with adb.exe and SuperOneClick.exe. Neither seem to do anything. If I take a bricked phones and plug it into my PC's usb when it's in download mode, I see that Windows sees it and updates the hardware list. When I run abd, it just says it can't find any devices. SuperOneclick just starts the abd shell (or tries to) and stops.

I haven't seen anyone post that this has been fixed. I guess I'm asking if anyone has gotten any further with this?

Thanks for any help.

Everything works fine until I get to step 11... I'm confused with step 11

If I unplug, remove the battery, press power nothing happens.. then how can I do step 12 "click launch software update" unless the phone is plugged back in with a battery installed? call me an idiot, but I'm really confused, is there another step that is implied??

Can someone hold my hand here and get me through this

My OpV crashed about a week ago - I was sending a text and it just shut itself off. It had done this a few times in the week before. I hadn't installed anything new or changed any settings. I have been running Mirage for a long time. The phone wouldn't restart, but I was able to get into recovery x1. I wiped everything and reinstalled Mirage from scratch. The phone ran for about a day then when I unplugged it from the charger it crashed completely and would not reboot into anything. I tried the procedure in the OP and was able to get into emergency mode. Like several other posters here it would begin the install, but never finish. Sometimes it would error after a bit and sometimes it would continue to say it was flashing something for up to 3 hours @ a time. Now I think the battery is dead, but when I plug it in it will say it is downloading and will not exit this mode no matter what button combination I push. The computer still sees it, but it doesn't look like there is anything I can do with it. Is my OpV dead? Is there anything else I can do with it in Emergency mode to revive it?
Thanks for any help offered.

Are you unable to get into emergency mode? I know of another way, but you have to have one fully charged battery and one completely dead one.
What settings are you using in the KDZ?
Do you have a ZV5 or a ZV4 baseband phone?
There is also the KP500 utility if you have a ZV4 Phone.
I have a good VM670ZV4.cab file.

i did the same as written in op. I previously unbricked the same phone with this method. Was trying to program for other network in india through DFS. dont know what went wrong and phone stuck on Lg logo. It was showing in emergency mode but after i tried few times with KDZ its not showing e mode.
However kdz is detecting the phone but every time it is stuck on Iparam= 93 error. i have zv5 n dont hv extra battery. dont know which baseband it had but it was working with ZV5

any solution yet???

Woops!
Sorry, feeling like a one legged man in a but kicking contest. Had a lot on my plate.
What happens when you try to get into the recovery mode? If you get a bright blue screen, and it has some txt on it, we will be able to give it fastboot commands to erase the recovery, boot, cache, system, and user data partitions.
Then you can get into the e-mode, but you have to have two batteries. One fully charged, the other totally and absolutely drained, With the one totally drained, push and hold the back, camera, volume down. While holding those buttons you need to simultaneously push power and insert USB cable that is already plugged into computer,
I usually insert the USB cable before starting just enough to keep it from falling out, but not enough to apply power.
This whole operation takes a good deal of practice with the USB cable disconnected from the computer.
Once e-mode has been obtained, swap battery with the fully charged one (e-mode will not charge battery).
I think you definitely need to wipe your partitions in order to continue with the KDZ, but you can try the KP500 as well. I have a zip I put together with an updated guide and the proper ZV5 cab named properly for that utility. Just need to upload to my Mediafire account.

EDIT: When did you buy your V and did you buy it used or new? This will help me determine if you have a ZV4 or ZV5 V

You might have a ZV9 baseband V. The ZV5.kdz file will not work if that's the case. Let me see if I can find the ZV9 firmware and convert it over to a .kdz from a .cab (can't just rename the file, I have to convert with a special utility program).

See if you can figure out a way to get it into E-mode the way I explained. It could be your battery is already drained.

You need to figure out how to get it into E-mode while I look for the ZV9 firmware. Okie Dokie?

Battery has to be totally dead drained. Cannot have any residual power in it for that method to work. If it works then you need to figure out how to borrow a friends Optimus V battery that's fully charged.

You could try and figure out how to charge the one you got. It could be it didn't have enough juice to even get into E-mode to begin with.

Once you manage to get into E-mode and have a full battery in the V when you start the KDZ, take a screen shot of the KDZ window so I can see exactly what is going on.
