Anyone still running 1.6 or 2.1 please help - lost notification tone

If anyone still has an X10 running 1.6, or maybe even 2.1 can you please do me a favour?

I'm looking for a notification tone, I think it was called Reminder. I've been using it for 3 years (2 on my X10 and 1 on my Galaxy S3).

Recently my S3 broke and when I sent it off for repair it came back wiped. While it was away for repair I used my old X10 but updated it to 2.3 and some of the notification tones (including the one I want back) seem to have been updated to different sounds :( The tone was definitely there on 1.6 and I'm pretty sure it survived the 2.1 update too.

So basically, I've lost this notification tone and as I've been using it for so long nothing else sounds right and I'm pretty desperate to get it back. If anyone can please provide me with this tone I'd be eternally grateful :)

Thanks. Unfortunately it's not there, I don't understand though :-( it seems to have the updated version that I got on the 2.3 update. What version are you running? If 1.6 or 2.1 I wonder if some tones varied Cubert to country. Also wonder if 2.1 had the new tones and I somehow managed to keep hold of the ones from 1.6 on my original update to 2.1.

I don't own that phone anymore, I just found a backup I did a while ago (I was using custom ROMs on this phone, until 2.3 came out), but I don't know from which version I got it, but I made that backup in February 2011.

Well sorry I couldn't help then! However, if you don't mind putting some time into this, you can always find the original 1.6 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749426) and figure a way to extract the file from the package (it's an .ftf with .sin files in it, I'm stuck at .sin but if you do some research I'm sure you can extract the files without installing it on your phone).

Unfortunately not :-(

Would still really like it if anyone has it or knows how to find it though.

I've even considered buying a second hand X10 just to get it back lol, but they all seem to be upgraded software.

I had considered trying to downgrade mine, if that's possible, but unfortunately it doesn't work anymore for some reason, so I never got the chance to try.

Also not working, oddly.

I tried it on my S3 and my Nexus 7, a few different media players between them and it doesn't work.

I'll have to try it on my laptop a bit later and I'll get back to you.

Thanks though!
Ah must be something to do with the phone browsers. I tried it on my phone and it downloads a small 7kb file which isn't the sound file. Should definitely work on PC.

Oh my god, I love you! :adore:

It works!

Lol, I've gone a bit crazy liking and thanking all your posts.

Thanks a lot, really appreciate it, never thought I'd hear that tone again.

Lol, no problem.

I managed to extract it from an old backup of the 1.6 X10 ROM I had lying around.

I was only casually browsing this section as I used to have an X10. It's only upon seeing your post here that made me look for the sound as I was pretty sure I knew which one you meant, but it's only now I remember how fondly I recall that sound, as it was the sound I used to have for incoming texts! Had totally forgotten about it until now, yet used to hear it all the time.

It is a great sound. I used (and now use again!) for emails. I use Luxury (also from the X10) for my message tone. They're two of my favourite tones, I've not found any I prefer since using them.

The only other one I liked a lot and would love to get back, is from an old Samsung T100 which was a clamshell phone, unfortunately it's so old I probably have no chance of ever getting that though. Don't suppose you have one of those lying around lol? I have heard very similar tones recently though, I wonder if Samsung have an updated version they've used on some phones, or another phone manufacturer has stolen it, but it's not on my S3.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help, glad to have it back! I've also uploaded it to dropbox and my email account to back it up, I might even look into uploading it to Zedge or something so it's out there permanently.

Wow, nostalgic! Thanks for that.

It is there actually, it's SMS 2 at the 22:22 mark, doesn't sound as good as I remember though oddly.

The second ringtone in the video is the most memorable, I'd been thinking of that recently too. It's the little grunting voice type sound at the end, always amused me lol.

I remember at least 75% of all the tones too and I've not used the phone for 10 years!

Last time I had my hands on the phone it didn't work, probably a dead battery but I wonder if it will work after so long even with a new battery, I'm not sure how long technology like this holds up without being used for so long? I still have it somewhere. It was my first ever phone (from my last couple of years at secondary school) and easily my favourite of all the phones I've owned since, such a beautifully designed phone (minus the dated aerial :p).
