Does anybody know why these phones have problems with streaming audio? Is this a hardware or software issue that can be fixed somehow?
I may have mentioned this already.... I can play super HD FLAC audio encoded Matroska videos on this phone without a problem, but can't stream Pandora or YouTube music without the damn audio chopping up/skipping every 20 seconds, even when on WiFi. Music is the only thing I really care about working and its driving me insane!!!!!
-UPDATE-
Finally fixed it. After hours/days of deleting, reinstalling apps, audio engines, wiping cache, wiping Dalvik cache, fixing permissions and countless experiments and reboots, I finally found out what the fu*king problem was: CPU settings. Here's what I did:
I installed No-Frills CPU Control - first one that came to mind, there are a few others on Play Store.
Set minimum CPU frequency to 594 MHz (was @ 384 MHz)
Left maximum CPU frequency @ 1.512 GHz
Set governor to "performance" (was set to "ondemand")
Left I/O scheduler set at "cfq"
Problem solved. That fixed audio my streaming audio distortion problem and I got the added bonus of a substantial increase in performance. youTube, PVStar and Pandora play flawlessly now. This may also fix some other performance issues I've read about in this forum.
**PLEASE** In case some of you are unaware, screwing around with CPU settings can potentially screw your phone up, perhaps even brick it if you're not careful. Do so at your own risk, and have a backup ready in case!!!
Here is a screenie of what I did. Values on left side are what my phone was running at, and you'll see on right side what I requested.
Noobies: Note that I haven't checked 'apply on boot' yet. ALWAYS make sure your phone can handle the new settings! Give your phone a one day stress test with new settings to be sure, then set to boot. Otherwise you may brick your device or get a boot loop! I speak from past experiences with another Huawei
