Root [International] Backup issue on rooted SG3

Cheers Andy i forgot about this thread. Yeah its annoying that the link takes you to the Alpha.
I was a bit premature recommending the 2.5 alpha so soon. Battery life isnt great on the i9300.
The 2.1 beta is definately a winner though :)
How did it go Mac?
If you need help with the settings and features just pop a post in my illusion thread. Im still getting to grips with them though tbh :D

It's been really busy at work so I haven't had a chance to go for it. Just gotta backup my apps on TB.

First off Andy thanks for being really patient with me.
I've done the backup but it didn't save CWM is this gonna be a problem when I wipe the phone?

Hah, not at all my friend. Refreshing to see someone doing research before going ahead. I was just as cautious as you first time round.

As mentioned, CWM is separate and safe. When you flash Illusion, your recovery will remain.

Morning all,
Still not done it, tbh I am still a bit nervous about it. Trying to set aside some time to just go ahead and jump. It is reassuring the know you guys are here to help.

We've all been there, or at least most of us. You've done more than enough research and backing up now - put some faith in yourself!

If you don't really want to do it, then there's no real need to take the risk. Don't get me wrong, I love these custom ROMs, but they're not exactly life-changing! The less Touchwiz my S3 has on it, the better. And right now its got none. That alone is enough for me to take the minor risk each time I flash.

There will be people here who have flashed 50+ ROMs/versions of ROMs without a problem. I'm very confident that you'll get on fine - especially with Illusion that I've personally tried and tested. I actually made a potentially horrible mistake when I flashed an AT&T version of Illusion onto my i9300. Fortunately the installer noticed and prevented it. My S3 had no OS for a few minutes until I downloaded the correct version, popped it on my SD card, and flashed again. That was a heart-race moment...but it was always going to be recoverable, and Illusion/Philz recovery dealt with it perfectly. You've already checked you've got the correct files, and had it checked by myself and others here - so you're safe from this!

You could flash a new custom recovery to test the waters? It wouldn't be a terrible idea for you to get yourself onto Philz recovery anyway.

Restoring your Nandroid would have put you back on stock ROM, back to when you made the backup, although it is weird that you got that error. Make another now you have a working ROM + apps. If you ever restore to stock, you won't be using a Nandroid unless it is a last resort, so don't worry about losing that Nandroid backup.

Make another ASAP, and don't move or rename anything after doing it. Hope it is all going well.

Booted into CWM recovery to restore my nandroid and it said it couldn't access the directory or find the files. Checked int.sd and the files are there. Managed to use my TB bakup to start restoring apps. Contacts are synced. Any suggestions for a good camera app with anti-shake and panorama?

I use snap camera. It's exactly like the AOSP cam and comes with its gallery. Has as many options as TW cam tbh but software just not as good. Like funky said the TW cam software is second to none.
