Moto Droid Maxx Cases and Accessories

I just want a pouch. Something to slip the phone in to prevent it rattling around.

I am a little disappointed that there is so little available for the phone for accessories - looks like we may have bought one of the verizon orphan phones and the support will be behind the X.

It's less than a week old... There will be cases available, give it time.

I bought my Otterbox Defender for my Gnex from Verizon on launch day. It was one of 3 cases to choose from.

These companies get pre-release phones or specs to work with to have products available at launch. The lead times to get something designed, out the door, and on the shelf make that a necessity.

Given that these phones are never going to be hotter than these initial weeks after launch, an accessory not on the shelf right now is lost sales.

In fact, what's up with launch, anyway? Search for Droid Maxx on Google and the Razr keeps coming up. Confusing naming choice by Motorola / Verizon. And I can't even get it to come up on Amazon unless I filter "cell phones > Sort By Price."

Strangely enough the phone is a bit too thin for me, I wanted to feel a little more size when holding it. I picked up (*)Speck's case. Its black and adds a little raise to the back which keeps the camera off surfaces in the back and raises the front enough the screen doesn't touch any surface when set down. Also has rubber grip stripes on back and sides, so worked perfect for me.

How is the bumper case? Need to get a case for this phone stat.

I have had the bumper case for three days and it seems like the best answer for my needs. It has a raised edge on the screen side that will protect the screen unless you drop it on a pointed rock. The back edge is about 1/4 inch and tapers in to the kevlar back that is exposed but plenty tough. It looks like it will work with a Qi wireless charger since the back is exposed but I will post more about that tomorrow after my Tylt Vu arrives. IMHO the bumper case is very easy to handle and minimalist. I don't like big, heavy and clumsy cases.

Did you pick the bumper up at the Verizon store?

that's what i ordered. i'm getting the black one. its $10 cheaper from verizon. but i don't know what to do about the screen. i can't stand sticky screen protectors.

just got my case. looks very nice. was $25+tax. offers two layers of protection.
looks just like this, except my dmaxx isn't white. looks good with the gray lip around the black.

As much as I like the functionality of my bumper case, I find it in the way of the capacitive buttons. Specifically the back and recent app buttons. I find myself having a hard time hitting the back button sometimes and I hit the recent app button often when I don't mean to. I may try going naked for a day.

I have the bumper. Access to the capacitive buttons doesn't bother me, but the stiffness of the power button is annoying. If I weren't on an Edge-up plan, or whatever it's called, I'd probably streak it naked.

I bought the Griffin case from my Verizon store. I chose the white edged case but it came in two other colors I believe. Anyway this case has silicone "bumpers" around all the sides and a clear plastic back that lets you see the phones back through it. Yesterday I decided to experiment. I cut out a piece of white paper to fit into the inside of the cover. The result is an all white phone cover. The possibilities are endless. I can cut out paper in any color or pattern I want or even personalize it by running it first though my printer and then cutting it out. I am going to have some fun with this!

Got me a red stripe bumper cover and a Griffin car dock. The bumper cover does not work with the car dock, it won't let the phone plug all the way in. I think I'll have to get some sort of flexible silicone skin so that I can slip it in and out to use the car dock. I, too, I am a bit disappointed in the stiffness of the button covers of the bumper cover. I'm not sure why they didn't use some sort of flexible silicone material to keep the feel of the buttons more natural. The car dock does not have a hole for the camera, so you'll have to drill one out carefully instead. I thought about putting some vent holes in the back of the car dock, but since the phone does not fit flush against it, I think I'll be okay without them.

I got the red bumper as well, but I think I'm going to take it back. It doesn't seem like it would, but it just makes the phone feel bulky. It went from barely being able to feel the naked phone in my pocket to feeling like I was trying to slip a small brick into my jeans. I ended up taking the bumper off after a day and it's just been sitting on my desk ever since.

I saw Diztronic has a TPU case for the Maxx now, and I loved their cases for the Galaxy Nexus and my wife's Galaxy S3, so I ordered one without a second thought.
