Help [Resolved]Nav asks to cancel when returning (using double tap home button)

Used Navi on my One today for the first time. When I went to another app (like to make a call) and then double-tapped the home icon to bring the app back to the foreground (or clicked the Navi icon), I got a dialog asking me if I really wanted to "Exit Navigation" or some such. Wussupwiddat? TIA

glitch. that does not happen. you may have pressed something twice or did something else without your knowledge.

see if you can recreate it--you shouldn't be able to...

for record,

your carrier?
rooted?

did you have any other background apps running (pandora, youtube, google play, etc)?

if you want to get back to an app thats running, thats what the pull down drawer is for. pull that down, then tap (once!) on the icon of the app you want to pull up to the front.

Just recreated it sitting here on my couch. Happens every time I try. I can use a camera to record a video of me doing it.

Verizon.
Unrooted.

When I pull down from the top of the screen, and select Navi from that list, the warning/dialog does not appear.

I thought the purpose of 'double tapping' the home button was to provide the functionality of the 'switch between apps' button that worked so well before...

EDIT: yes, other apps were running, email, Facebook, couple others...

this is the proper way to recall a running app.

double tapping the home button opens up the apps that are in memory but those apps may or may not be running at the time. also the OS may shut them down or take those resources and reallocate them to another app that is requesting more resources that _IS_ currently running at the moment (such as cpu incentive GPS apps or streaming apps like youtube). Apps in the drawer are the ones running and using resources, so pulling down the drawer and tapping the icon you want to get to will ensure you go right to it and not get a "do you want to close.." or some other message...

Good to know.

Shame though.

The 'switch between apps' button was an absolute fave, so convenient. I'll miss it.

I'll also stop double-tapping the home button unless I want to dispatch a running app.

you can still use the double press home button to get to a recent app you used, but you may see that message.. or not.. depends on the app.

i use the double press home button thingy all the time--for example, i want to translate something into another language to sms someone--ill be in the messages app, i double tap the home to open up recent apps, tap on the translate app, i then get to the app.

now, the translate app wasnt running at the time but its in the recent apps tab--you will see when the screen goes to the "Recent apps" app you tapped to reopen, it will kind of dissolve/fade to it--thats because the app wasnt running but was in memory and the OS re-launched it.

so just keep using the double tap thingy.. will not do any harm...
