[question] Upgrade + unlimited data - new twist

This is essentially the same question rehashed over and over again, but slightly different in my case.

I have 5 lines on my account. They are as follows.

Line 1 - Unlimited data
Line 2 - Unlimited Data
Line 3 - Unlimited Data

Line 4 - 2GB/Mo Data

Line 5 - Dumbphone

The dumbphone line was up for an upgrade (all 3 unlimited lines have been for a year now, but im not touching those, obviously.)

What I have done is transferred my upgrade to line 4 and purchased a Moto X.

What I would like to be able to do at this point is swap the phones on Line 1 and Line 4.

I have spoken with a rep at the store and he was quite close to nailing the "you can't do that" political VZ crap. His words were "We can try to move them, but there is no guarantee you will be able to keep your unlimited data. BUT, I would suggest leaving the phones as they are for the time being so we don't raise any red flags when the time comes to move them."

Hopefully someone here has tried swapping two phones like I want to. My question is this: How likely am I to be able to keep my unlimited data if we try this?

Side question: Will they be able to find out BEFORE I commit to the swap and lose the data, or is there a chance Ill lose the unlimited the very moment we try?

What line did you transfer the upgrade from, Line 5?

If I'm understanding right, you used the upgrade on Line 5 to put a Moto X on Line 4. Now, you an old phone on Line 1 and want the Moto X on Line 1?

Easiest way would be to swap another device onto Line 4, thus freeing up the X to be activated wherever you like. Go online, select that you'd like to activate your own equipment on Line 1 and follow the prompts, they should even offer to mail you a SIM card if you don't have one that fits. Once the X is on Line 1, you can put the old phone on Line 4 and your temporary phone is freed up again. The best part of this plan is that it only involves interacting with the Verizon website, no reps to screw things up.

You can switch phones between your lines as much as you want with no change, so don't let any rep tell you otherwise.

I literally did this exact thing at my local Verizon corporate store. I got the Moto X in the morning and activated it on the upgraded line, we'll say line two. Line 1 is unlimited and currently has an S3 on it. So, I went to the store in the afternoon, walked up to the salesperson with both phones and said I want to switch these two. About 10 minutes later, and two new sim cards, I walked out with my brand new Moto X on my unlimited line. No hassle whatsoever.

It should be done in store, for just the mere fact that the Moto X uses the micro sim. If the sims were the same on both lines I'm pretty sure you could do all of this online and just swap sim cards.
