Help Text message sent but not delivered.

I've been having an issue with my S3 and a person I've been texting. This problem only seems to be happening with this specific person. Everyone else is fine. I recently started texting a friend again after 4 months of silence, and sometimes it seems my texts just don't get delivered. When I send a message, the sent time appears underneath and there is no fail error or anything. I turn on delivery reports and sometimes I don't get notifications. If I hold down on the screen and view the details of a text, the status is "sent" and the delivery report status is "requested". I would have to resend texts. Sometimes it works fine, and sometimes this problem happens. But the problem mostly happens. I have to constantly ask the person if they received the last text or not. I don't know if it's a problem on my end or theirs. It seems to work fine with all my other contacts. I am with Telus. All I know is that my friend is using an Iphone 4 or 5.

Any ideas what the problem could be? Their phone couldn't be off since this is happening during the conversation. I also don't get delivery reports from messages I've sent before that they HAVE seen. Could it just be their settings or something?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. I'm using the default messaging app. So there are other apps to use to text people? I won't be charged or anything? I prefer to use something official from Samsung though. I would imagine it's a problem on my friend's end since they are the only one I've been having this issue with. Could their phone settings have anything to do with it? I also think it could be their service provider. I think our providers are different, I don't know if that makes any difference.

I guess I can try using a different app. Would anyone mind recommending a good one and explaining how to set it up for texting? It would have to replace the default one, wouldn't it?

Thanks for the help.

Awesome. I'm loving Chomp already! Thanks.

Just have 3 concerns.

1. I tested it out with a different friend and he received it. I checked the SMS delivery report box to test that out, and beside the sent text there are 3 little yellow looking circles. I don't know what that indicates but he said he got that text as well. Does that mean it worked? I think the delivery reporting is a little messed up.

2. There is this checked box about being on T-Mobile USA. I'm in Ontario, Canada, so I guess I should uncheck that?

3. Chomp won't give me any additional charges for anything, will it?

Thanks again. You've been most helpful!

Kewl!!

About the box by T-mobile....heh, I haven't noticed that and mine is checked even though I am not on T-mobile. :dontknow:

I don't think Chomp will give you any additional charges, I mean, why would it? Serious question as I really don't know, sorry. Would a third party messaging app be any different as far as text message charges?

As far as the 3 little dots, I saw those briefly, then they turned into a green checkmark....does yours turn into a green checkmark?

I think I only check T-Mobile USA if I'm actually in the USA, but I'm with a Canadian account or something, so I unchecked it and everything still works well.

I guess you're right about the charges. I looked up the website and they say it's all free.

And yes, it takes it a few minutes to change to a check mark. Works perfectly.

I'll still have to test this out with the person that I'm having the problem with. Other than that, this is awesome.

Thank you so much for the help. You're a good man. :)

Hi! I am having the same problem. But I don't exactly know if he DOESN'T get them or if I DON'T get his replies. Or maybe he's just ignoring me. Anyway, I know that sometimes I don't get texts from my brother that he's sent from across the room because he's too lazy to talk. haha

I'm using handcent but I might just switch to Chomp if it fixed your problem.

I don't think my friend has his phone on or on him at the moment. I'll post here again with an update. All I can think of is that it has something to do with their service provider, plan, or if they are using a third party app which may be conflicting with it or something...or if it's just simply happening for no reason temporarily.

I know my friend has an s3 from tmobile and is using stock app.

Edit: He just got a text I sent last night. He says he has not gotten any of my texts from the past couple of weeks. But, I switched to Chomp and it works.
