Apparently Play Books doesn't use epub format with paid books, so is there any way to convert and open them in Kindle? I know the files are kept in the system partition, but I was hoping there was a program or trick to do this.

Calibre is a great *free* application for managing / converting ebooks.

Oops. You're wanting to convert ACSM to EPUB and remove DRM... not sure I can help you with that.

I appreciate the explanation. I won't even get into the "not having complete access to things I've purchased" debate, but, bottom line, Google's lost a customer and Kindle's gained one.
