Hello all,
I just update my galaxy tab p5113 to android 4.2.2 using the samsung kies app. The update was successful. The main feature i wanted it the multi user account. When i go to settings and under device there is no user option. Under about device it show 4.2.2. Why do i not see the users option with this update from samsung?
thanks

interesting, I didn't know there was another update for the p5113... mine (running 4.1.1) is not showing an OTA update... is this through KIES only?

Updated with Kies last night and can confirm that there is NO Multi-User interfaces at all.

One other note, Dev options have been hidden and you have to go to About Device and tap on the build number multiple times. You will notice that after tapping several times, it will start to count down. Once you activate dev options, they should not go away again, until a factory reset is performed. I ahve restarted about 3 times and did not have to repeat this procedure again.

Developer Options allow you to have dev access to the phone, to an extent. They are mainly used for app devs who need to test their apps on physical devices. However, USB Debugging is almost always manditory for rooting as it allows you to execute ADB commands which can allow you to push, pull, and install many system apps and software. You can also show CPU usage onscreen, keep the phone awake when plugged in, show the actual touch input onscreen, and so much more.

If you are not a dev, but want to root, you will almost always have to turn on USB Debugging and this is the only place to do it.

I have been wanting to Root my Galaxy S3 and Tab 2 10.1 for some time now. I haven't done it yet ....I suppose I'm not that Confident in doing it. To put it another way , i've never done before , can't find a simple TUT to instruct me how.....So im a bit nervous to even get it a try. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 rooting methods as I still have ~6-7 months left on my warranty. I don't root my device until after the warranty period ends simply for my own peace of mind, you know in case something happens....

I have looked through the limited root methods for this device and they seem fairly straightforward, though they are not as easy as the root methods for devices I have worked with in the past.

My only real suggestion would be to read everything, read it again, and if you still do not feel comfortable going through with it, then don't do it. Rooting is almost always the easiest part, but being able to recover your device after root if something happens, is typically more difficult.

It took me about a month and a lot of research to really understand how Android works. It was this knowledge that gave me the confidence to root the first time and the ability to get my devices to working states when I messed a mod up.
