Help Google Now Reminder Alarms Not Working- It's Driving Me Nuts!!!

I hope someone can suggest some ideas. I've been trying for months to get the alarm notifications to work on my Verizon S3. I've spent hours and hours for month after month looking at the forums, and have not been able to fix it- I really, really would like to get this to work!

The problem is, I never get alarm reminders for either:
- time to leave/traffic alerts when I have upcoming appointments
- reminders based on location

I've tried everything I know of in the book- I need an expert to please help me get this working!!! Either I'm doing something really stupid and missing something, I have some setting(s) wrong, or Google Now is somehow broken for me. Sorry for the frustration... :thinking:

I'm willing to start at the basics (in case I missed something) all the way to the complex. I really could use some advise on getting the alarms to work on Google Now notifications...

I'm running a Verizon S3, with 4.2.1 and recently I rooted the phone (the notifications have not worked since before nor after the rooting- I did it for other reasons).

I haven't had this problem personally but have you updated the Google Search?

In google now, settings under google now and notifications, do you have the features you want on? Under phone settings do you have locations services enabled? If you're rooted have you deleted a file or app needed for google now to work? Prob all ones you have tried

Thanks for the suggestions. All your suggestions seem to be set correctly. Also, I only rooted about a week ago, and it wan't working way before then either...

Do you think a factory reset might fix the problem, or would I be wasting my time? After checking the forums, is this a good way to do a hard reset:
"So all you need to do is go into recovery (With phone turned off, hold down the home key + Volume up + Power) and choose the "Factory Reset" option. All it wipes is /data and /cache and like I said, SU is stored in /system so you won't lose root."?

Thats a good way to do it, or depending on how you rooted, I didnt have a problem with the factory default way of resetting the phone which is under settings. Before doing that have you tried to uninstall google search and then reinstall it?

Maybe a dumb question- but all I can see to do is to Uninstall updates and/or Force stop Google Search. How would I go about uninstalling it completely?

Ah thats right you cant uninstall, you could clear the data uninstall the updates and reinstall and try that

Hi all, since this problem seems very difficult to solve, I've received approval from the forum administrator EarlyMon to offer to pay someone to help me fix this problem (his post is below). I have been struggling with this for months and am at wits end, so please if anyone can try to help me I'd really appreciate it, and be willing to pay for the help. Not trying to ruffle any feathers, just really need help getting this solved...

Sorry i can't help with your issue, but i thought i would also add that i have also not had some Google Now reminder notifications.
Some work and notify, others don't. They were individual reminders set with no reference to any other Google now function.
Hope you get it sorted, you tried emailing Google for assistance?

I haven't really found a place to do that. I went to the Google+ forum, but there is no mobile device forum anymore, so my question was kicked off of that. Do you have any ideas of who to contact- I will certainly pursue this wherever possible.

I know how frustrating this is.

This is an account issue.

Delete ALL PAST reminders.

It should work again.

If not, delete ALL reminders.

this fixed it for me and others on the Google forum.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, my only solution was a bad one- I sold the phone and went with an iphone. However, I am getting bored with it :eek:

, and will likely go back to an Android when my contract is up in a few months...

You mentioned this was the solution on some other forums/posts- can you tell me how you found the other forums, where they are at, so I can research them some more before I purchase my next phone?

Yes, the Iphone is boring because there are no (few) problems! We keep busy and occupied with troublesome phones

I didn't mean it particularly negatively- the iphone works great and has very few bugs. Just saying that there are much fewer modifications available for it, you can't tweak it as much, and therefore it bores me...
