Help me lower my bill

I am currently on the Everything data 1500 shared. I have 3 smartphones...#1 is mine #2 wife #3 son

Here is our average monthly usage... I use about 0.5gb of data and 500 minutes. The wife uses 0.3gb data and 500 minutes. My son uses no data and maybe 100 minutes.

Our son has a phone strictly for emergency purposes. I get most of my data through wifi, primarily because we don't have 4g in Denver. I might get about 1g at most if we did.

Our monthly bill runs $212. I just moved jobs and will be getting the 24% discount. However, still seems silly to pay for unlimited when we use very little.

I just went online and looked at the new My Unlimited, and the cheapest I could get it down to was $190 before taxes. Won't be saving much to change it.

My phone is up for renewal next month. The wife and son aren't till next summer. Obviously my son having my old Evo doesn't help.

So I'm wondering if anyone can analyze my situation and give me some ideas?

I thought about switching my service to another provider since I'm wasting time waiting on Sprint to upgrade 4g here. I looked at Verizon and just myself would be $100 and only 8% employee discount. Then downgrading my wife and son on Sprint. However, that won't save me much either.

Anyhow, anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Hello you ask to lower your billz . I can help a little . The key word is wifi . Yes wifi . You ask how the hell this is going to lower your bill . Well not much but a little will help a lot . Ok you have wifi on your device and every home has it also and many business. If you put on wifi when at home or at work you will save your data and this will reduce your bill . Cause all 3 devices are using your data and you are going over on data. This is why your paying so much. So when you are at home set all devices on the wifi and when your at work set the devices on wifi also . And watch how the bill looks . Then try to kill the Youtube watching . Remember data is data and its not free.

Umm, I use wifi 90% of the time. If you read my initial post I said that and I showed we use very little data. Not even 1g for three phones. We are on the unlimited family plan now and I'm looking for ways to lower it.

Data use is not an usage and when it is, I know how to use wifi.

I'm not at home and since Denver sucks for coverage, I can't look. But, does Sprint have prepaid?

Pre-paids likely going to be your best low-price option, but it's not going to be as simple as an all-in-one account. Pre-paids also don't travel outside coverage areas well so consider that too.

As for the major carriers, Sprint's still usually lower. Just not much lower any longer. As to your specifics, I'd go with a pre-paid for your son since he doesn't call much. As for data, he'd have to use wifi. Have you considered just a phone-only option for him. You can then get him a Nexus 7 or something for about $200 and have him use that as his wifi. Or you could just use the Evo as a wifi-only device, but you'll probably have better luck selling the phone + Nexus 7 if he has to carry two devices.

In general, I don't think most people who don't use mobile data should pay for it if you don't use it. If you don't get the speed or coverage, then the Unlimited plans just don't work for you because they're designed for data, not calling.

Good luck. Pick based on your low calling and wifi-use. You don't need to pay for mobile data that you don't use.

My contract is going to be up June of next year, and I'm giving a hard look to the prepaid services. AIO wireless has really caught my eye, even if it means I have to buy new devices. I tend to buy/sell devices on ebay anyway, so it's not much of a detriment to me.

I'll have to see how well AIO wireless fares over the next couple of months.

I'm late to the party here, but my suggestion would be Ting.

I'd also recommend Ting - we cut our bill by around 65% by switching to them.

Ting uses the Sprint network, gives you free voice roaming on Verizon, and their rates are pretty low. You can also keep most Sprint phones if you like your current phone.
