Picked it up this morning from local corp store.

Bought it at retail. Yes, I got the soft sell on Edge, but I think guy saw I knew my stuff and didn't go too far.

One bonus, I mentioned the coupon code and got 10% off.

I did pick up a pack of screen protectors. I like the flip cover case, but not for $50. There was also a silicone case, but never a fan of them.

So far, the screen is georgous. Fast is an understatement. Camera is fast and accurate. Spent most of the day setting up the phone apps and customizing. That is, when I wasn't working.

Overall, pretty happy with it. Can get used to the back buttons easily.

Some of the LG customizations are better than stock, and some aren't. Lots of bloat  Awaiting root to get rid of that.

Speaker volume isn't great either. :( Better than GNex, but not near the level of some other phones.

So if there's any questions, let me know and I'll see what I can answer.

Got mine yesterday. Absolutely love the back buttons. Who would have known?

As for bloat, there is plenty of it. I too am looking forward to root to get rid of it.

Overall the phone is blazing fast. A few things irk me. The knock on/off feature works great but if you fill your home screen with apps like most people do, you can't knock the phone off otherwise the app will open. Also the speaker is good, but not great like the HTC one.

I read a review that mentioned that. It said you have to have a piece of clear real estate to be bale to tap off.

If you knock up by the status bar, it will shut off...
Can someone try the "Smartvideo" function. This should allow you to look away while watching a video and it will pause. I tried it on a G2 in store yesterday, and it didn't work. My contract ends tomorrow, so I can't pick mine up until Monday. Just curious if the smartvideo not working was just something with the display phone?

nj02, any more thoughts after sitting on it for another day?
Not much.

Back is a fingerprint magnet. Knew this going in.

Speaker volume is actually better than I initially thought..........but, its very easy to cover up the opening and muffle the sound. Just something to be aware of.

Phone call quality is fine, no issues there. The knock-knock feature has worked fine for me. BTW, you don't need to knock hard with your knuckle. Just a quick fingernail tap works great.

Battery life is fully unknown right now, however I'm going to suspect it pretty awesome. My first day usage was a-typical as I was playing with it all day, downloading tons of apps through LTE, etc. Screen almost always on with me fiddling with it, but also trickle charging here and there through vehicle adapter.

Today seems a little more typical. I've been unplugged for 3hrs and have 97% with estimated time of 89hrs remaining. :D

LTE reception seems to be around -90dB. Doesn't list ASU. Reception seems better than GNex, but some buildings I did lose signal. I'm going to try in some other areas to see if I get a signal where I knew the GNex didn't. Unknown 3G-4G handoff yet, but I'm sure the Snapdragon 800 is mature enough to handle that fine.

Very fast. Virtually no lag. Only stutter I saw was when I was downloading and installing 50+ apps.

Amazon app store is loaded natively. Apps installed through Amazon don't have to multiple confirm install/third party warnings I saw previously. Plus 3rd party app installs wasn't enabled in security settings. Don't know if this is new, or something that I've been unaware of.

I did have one strange issue with WiFi. After being out all day, I came home and tried to connect to my router. It found the router, I put in my password and it tried to connect. Tried obtaining an IP address and it indicated poor reception. I sat next to the router and it got the same result and didn't connect and timed out. Bad WiFi reception would have been a deal breaker for me. I ended up deleting the connection/forgetting the password and redid the connection. In 5 sec, it was all up and running. Range seems good. So chalk that up to a glitch or something, maybe even on my routers end.

Google Wallet will NOT install. Not available in play store, nor will most versions install. Finally got a version sideloaded, but a notice from Google that this hardware isn't supported yet.

Software customizations are a love/hate relationship.

Pro's:

  • With a screen this size, they changed the icon grid to 5x5.

  • Lock screen shortcuts.

  • Home screen shortcuts, not only customizable, but able to fit up to 7 across.

  • Different transition effects.

  • Notification bar customizations
(basically above is launcher related, and I'm OK with LG's launcher)

  • Answer call screens: the good. Call comes in, you get three buttons to chose from. Answer call, ignore call, and send message. Not revolutionary, but nice.
  • Can group more icons than stock, and can customize.

Con's:

  • Bloat

  • Notification bar clutter (although you can somewhat clean up)

  • Inability to hide apps and/or widgets.

  • Default app list arranged by install date, although you can change to alphabetical.

  • Inability to fully customize soft menu buttons. There's a few presets, but you can't add multi-task button. In it's place you get a permanent menu button, along with the typical home and back. You can also add a notification drop down button, but that just seems stupid. However, you can get into the multitask screen with a long press of home.

  • Answer call screens: the bad. The incoming call screen is different based on whether your phone is locked at the time of the call. For locked phones, you need to swipe to answer, for unlocked you need to just push the button. No issue with that. However, they swapped the position of the buttons (answer and message) between the two screens. Just poor design practice. Button position should be the same. If you get used to a selection of the left, you should make sure that selection is always on the left.
  • Ringtones/notifications suck.
  • Icon grouping can be difficult with drag/drop sometimes, and are uglier compared to stock. Fortunately, you can group in other ways which is actually far easier.

Neutrals (don't know if I like/use or not):

  • Notification light shines red when charging, green when charged.
  • Q slide apps. Basically it's multiple window multitasking for certain apps.
That's all I can think of now. I'll update as I think of things.

Best phone i've owned to date. Might be some snags with rooting/unlocking as there is an adb issue.

Great looking phone in black. There are some quirks with the phone but certainly nothing to fret upon. Unless you like to nitpick then wait for the note 3.

I'll 2nd that. Best phone I've owned to date. Between the fabulous huge screen, the fact that it can be seen outdoors (unlike my GS3), the unreal battery life, the ergonomics of the back buttons etc., it's just a ton of fun.

Has anyones screen been flickering a bit? I noticed it last night on my g2 while I was trying to arrange my home screens. Also does the 4g lte symbol disappear when you connect to wifi or does it stay there? My 4G Lte symbol shows even if I'm connect to wifi. I am thinking I may have just got a bad g2, if that is the case I will swap it out for another one. Besides those issues the phone is amazing!!

When texting in landscape, my left middle finger is EXACTLY on the rear power button and ive accidentally turned it off a few times. Need an option to disable power button in landscape. Anybody know if this exists?

Second issue is the lack of response from the LG keyboard. Especially the space bar. Just meor is anyone else seeing the same?

Haven't seen any issue with the screen flickering, but now I will keep an eye out for it. This phone apparently leaves the 4G symbol on even when connected to wifi, but I can confirm (on mine anyway) that it is definitely connected to wifi.

IBT, if simply tapping the screen to turn if off works, I assume it would mess with gesture controls like in Nova Prime? I use a double tap to launch the camera. Or, can you turn that feature off?

Not sure. I'm actually pressing the physical, rear power button occasionally while texting. Not sure if there would be a workaround for this other than changing the way i hold the phone. Which i will probably do without realizing it
