Preordered this- it was tough between LGG2/Note3/iPhone5S -anyone else?

Replying to the OP

1- Iphone.. Not even a consideration for me. Have some friends that have them and the tiny screen for me is not even an option. The monster bezels on that thing make it look so out dated to me.

2 - Note 3.. The only thing holding me back from this is the size and the new speaker placement. Not sure if it will be pocket-able, or able to hear GPS navigation while driving. But then again, the extra screen real estate sure does make it tempting. Will have to check it out in store when it comes out as they have moved the speaker to the bottom also. Hopefully it will still be as good as the Note 2's volume.

3 - G2.. Read a review that said speaker and headphone volume was poor. (not loud). This may be a deal breaker for me as this is very important to me in my line of work. Very annoying to be using GPS and you can't hear the turn by turn navigation. The on screen buttons are also a turn off for me as it seems to cut down on the size of the screen in most applications.

Guess I will just have to wait until 10/10 and go to a corporate store and check them out side by side. Reviews are great for getting a general idea, but you have to get them in hand to find out if its going to work for yourself.

Just walked out of the Verizon store. I played with the G2 for a good 20 minutes. The screen is amazing. Very bright, extremely fast.

However, I too am not a fan of the onscreen buttons because it does cut some of the screen size. The note 2 was very close by and the screen just seems that much bigger, and that's the Note 2!

The note 2's screen, though, was very dim compared to the G2. I hope that the 3 is brighter. That G2 is really super bright. Gorgeous display. Just wish it was a bit bigger.

As you can tell by now, I'm going to wait. I think the Note 3 will blow this thing away.

And as far as pocketability, I slid the Note 2 into my jeans very easily. The Note 3 figures to be about the same size.

As long as you don't activate it, I don't think it uses your upgrade. As far as returning it to the store, I'm not sure.

You can return it to a corporate store.

I've been stink eyeing the LG G2 even though I've placed a preorder for the Note 3. Mostly cause I'm curious (and impatient). I briefly considered the 5s but my eyes aren't getting any better and 4" screen just won't cut it anymore. I may have to take a ride to a corp store and take a peek at the G2.

Just bought this phone and I feel like in regards to smooth scrolling etc, I actually downgraded from my Nexus 4. Everything from the settings menu to opening apps feels very glitchy compared to my Nexus 4. If rooting is my only hope I will return it.

You may have some sort of conflict or else a lemon. Comparing to the S4 this thing flies! No stuttering or lag, etc. I hate to say it, but you may need to try a factory reset and see if that clears things up for you. Also maybe try and get to a store and see if there is a demo unit that you can compare to.

I haven't pre-ordered, but, I did go to a local AT&T to give this phone (& while I was there, the MOTO X/GALAXY MEGA/S4 ACTIVE) a spin.

I was anticipating on comparing the G2 vs the NOTE 3, going in under the assumption of ruling out the G2 & came out of the store convinced the G2 will be my next phone.

While the NOTE 3 will surely be a great phone, one nagging hardware design flaw that I had all but forgot about since moving from the S3 to the HTC ONE:

The power button placement.
This drove me nuts on the S3 & while testing the GALAXY MEGA, I had inadvertently turned the screen off twice.Sounds minor, but, do it enough throughout the day & it begins to become tiresome to the user experience.

The G2 is fast, nice screen, U/I-features are quite useful, w/o some of the gimmicky ones on other devices you'll never use.

I'll keep the HTC ONE & pick up the G2 on opening day @ T-Mobile (SEPTEMBER 25TH).

I would pre-order, but, it's not gonna save me any money by doing so,or,get delivered any earlier.
I ordered the HTC ONE sight unseen & while it's a great phone, it took me 4 months to find a BLUETOOTH that had acceptable sound quality w/phone calls. While the AT&T model performed well in this category, I want to verify this on the actual phone that I end up with BEFORE leaving the store.LESSON LEARNED.

Unless HTC crawls out of their cave & demos the HTC ONE MAX in the next 10 days or so (& has some really cool never-seen-before features),I'll be getting this phone.

BTW, I caught up on all the G2 threads since returning from the AT&T store & hadn't seen anything mentioned about pre-registering the SPRINT version, so, here's a link:

I am a techie and I love phones...I go back and forth every now and then between iOS and Android...iPhone4-Atrix-4s-S3-now this G2! Did anyone else have a hard time deciding between this and Note 3? What are your thoughts? iPhone 5s (I kinda miss iOS- but not that small of a screen!). I think it breaks down to this or Note3. Anyone else having the hardest time deciding!?
How can it be hard when the Note 3 isn't even available and the iPhone just released. Perhaps you should wait until all the devices are available for hands on and perhaps take home testing. Then once you'vehhad the opportunity to play with each device then you can make an informed decision. But the decision can't possibly be hard to make until you have access.

I see you're a long time member/lurker(?) & 1st time poster.

We're not that hardcore here, only when necessary/when someone is having a hard-to-resolve issue.

I'm sure the OP is well aware of the similarities/differences in the models of phones available & was just opening up a discussion.

Besides, haven't you ever been in a situation where you liked two things equally but, for whatever reason, could have only one?

I think we all have at one time or another, just my 2

Unfortunately I just returned my G2.

It was a great phone, don't get me wrong. First phone I ever had that didn't make me want to slap a launcher on it.

My biggest problems were:

1. I realized I prefer a hardware button. 5.2" is not really 5.2 if you have .8 taken up by the nav bar.

2. Texting was driving me nuts. Constant wrong auto corrects and typing 10 letters for every 1 I wanted.

3. Believe it or not, I want a bigger screen!

Ugh. Great phone. Seems there will be a ton of dev support.

But I'm holding out for the Note 3.

Wish you guys the best!!

I as well changed my mind & pre-ordered the GN3.

Not so much for anything that I don't like about the G2,just changed my mind, for now.

I'm enrolled in JUMP on T-Mobile,so,there's a good chance I could pick this up six months from now.

If I hadn't blown my gadget budget so badly earlier in the year,I probably would get both right now.

Anyway, should I stick w/the GN3 for now (past the 14 day return window) & not get the G2,I have a few G2 accesories that anyone here are welcome to,free of charge,(& free shipping):

I was in the same exact boat. Had my heart set on a 5s or a note 3, yeah I know completely different ends of the spectrum. The 5s was a huge letdown, the fingerprint sensor was cool and all, but to have to slog thru that 4" screen for another year, and iOS7 which looks just like iOS6 with a new skin, bleh. The Note 3 was really just too big for me, I had the Note 2 and could never get used to it, it just wasn't for me, as much as my tech side lusted for it I can still feel the pain of the Note 2 smashed up against my hip every time I sit down. The G2 is just the right size, and part of the reason I got it is I believe instead of increased CPU's, memory, etc phone makers should be working on things like reducing, or hell eliminating bezels. LG seems to have taken that direction so they got my money.

To me it is probably tough between lg2 and note3, but not iphone 5s.

Don't want to give away my fingerprint to that creepy thingy and never be interested in that half bake ios7 either.

Right now I am strongly considering picking up this device. I guess the big drawback for me is the lack of the of an external storage storage drive considering that after the system is done with the onboard 32GB all that is left is 24GB, and it is easy for me to burn that up. I don't have an Unlimited Data plan anymore with VZW so the Cloud storage can come to me at a Premium in the long run.

I'm also looking at the Note 3, which sure it is bigger and I have my 64 gb MiroSd card in hand formatted and ready to go, but I'm buying out of contract, the Samsung store at Best Buy told me it is gonna be $799 for 32GB device, while I could've swore I saw $699 at VZW pre-order. Not to mention the Note 3 is switching over to USB 3.0, I've used Micro USB since Black Berry, I'm have change my whole way of life... I'm not sure I'm not so sure I'm ready to do so...

I'm totally on the fence. And the G2 is $599 off Contract, and it is Rootable and nearly Unlockable, but uses TWRP as a custom Recovery which permit flashing custom ROMs and Kernels...

The GN3 is backward-compatible w/USB 2.0,no worries there.
