The new MetroPCS Huawei Valiant handset features jellybean 4.1 with hardware inferior to that of Premia. If someone gets their hands on one would it be possible in the future to use that phone to port jellybean? Most likely it should be really similar software wise to Premia but sadly since it's a new phone no root or cwm. I just wanted to shine some light into the room...

Just curious, how can I get into development like boneface and the oudhs? I know a very basic amount of java and python.

What coding and other skills do I need? I haven't ever seen a guide or anything.

It depends on exactly what you want to do, my understanding of development for Android is very basic so I encourage you to use Google. You should start with something simple and build your knowledge upon that, perhaps you can also ask boneface yourself to introduce you to some possible guides, etc...

OK tried robert 's stairway root...no luck...and SRS ...nothing although some of my files do show 1969 the main stuff is 2013...Roberts way cool he responded I really fast and was willing to help with Anything I had trouble with...the info I got from root check pro is system/sbin/...... permission denied.Cruz system/bin|xbin doesn't exist.oh yeah I also read in the download manual ...crespo ,Qualcomm ,Samsung ,41, and source code at mobile@huawei which when I searched for I coulndnt find Nada.I tried N.R.T. for boot loader and I think the ascends root tools as well and I don't think its locked Cuz it don't register on my laptop...the phone claims fast boot in settings menu but fast boot programs I've run on it don't identify it also got msm7260 msm8225 msm8x25 as well as U9220 at different times hooking up to PC.I don't know what all this means Cuz up till nowiI was lucky enough to get devices that had root programs already available.still have not tried update.zip with z4 kernel patch can't find a damn SD card reader ...I swear I have tons of them everywhere and when I need one can't find a single one....aaaaaarrrghgghhhhh!!!....neways I like this phone hate the mpcs bloat...I want root or the phone dies or its going back

i got this phone literally in a pinch. my S3 took a crap due to my charger getting hit by lightning and when i plugged the phone in it wiped out the charge circuit. took off to metro and got the cheapest android device i could find. it is still a decent device. wish people would dev some roms and such for it :(

I'm doubting that's ever going to happen.

At least we got people like Shabby and boneface on the Premia.
;)

I'm not to willing to discount the Valiant just yet.. Once they find a way to root perfectly I'm sure some performance tweaks will do the trick to make it a little better. :D

Is the ram shared on this device? if i look up the specs on this phone it says it has 768MB of ram. yet when i bring up hardware info it says i have 648mb of ram.

That 120 mb is probably just being used by the OS itself and the stock launcher. Go try Smart Launcher, you'll notice a large boost IMO. It is supposedly the least amount of ram hog out of all the launchers.
