Keyboard recommendations

The stock Google keyboard (at least on the current version of Android) has all you need. It remembers words (actually lets you specifically choose to remember or not -- nice if you are "making up a word" that you won't really be using again).. and does swype/flow/whatever you want to call it.. and has a nice layout.

Why add an app when the stock works perfectly well?

Perhaps the prediction is slightly better with swiftkey.. or whatever, but that all really come down to opinion and typing style.

Give the stock the chance and see how you like it in a week or so.

First, I don't think the stock keyboard is the same on all phones.

Second, I wanted a 10 key type layout, as was available on my old Moto Droid 2 Global. The stock keyboard on my Samsung S4 was too small for the numbers (particularly those on the left and right edge). For that numeric keypad option I turned to Swiftkey (although it's really more of a phone number type keypad, not a 10 key type layout, but that doesn't bother me).

If you are wanting something easy to use with one hand, I HIGHLY recommend Swype. I've been using it since it's first Beta's on Android and it's SO much easier to use with chubby fingers than a regular "hunt & peck" keyboard. Easy to add to the dictionary. Easy to get to alternate characters. Even though some of the others have swiping functionality, none of them pull it off quite as well.
