Root [Boost Mobile] WORKING wifi tether setup

my tether keeps stopping itself and a message on the bottom says something about what the hell and my phone took back control... it goes by too fast for me to see the full message.. running rooted (obviously :p) but that's all.

Try...
Goto settings
More settings
Mobile network
Connection optimizer
Uncheck/disable

When it is enabled it will restart your wifi like every 10/15 mins

Hi, I am on Boost with Midnight rom. I just installed this and changed the settings to what you recommended but cannot get wifi tether to work. Will not show up on pc or tablets wifi. Please help.

It could be the rom you're on, but I doubt it. ..

First try un installing the app. Then restart the phone and reinstall it...

I uninstalled the app, then reinstalled. I changed all the settings except dns. Tried with the default number listed, then tried with your number. No success on either one. There are no errors but my pc and tablet wont find the ssid. Please help/

i think you need to have it set to your phone's dns...

for your computer not finding it, i dont think i know enough to help... one thing that comes to my mind is enable 'mock locations' found in settings, development.

extremely dumb question, you are turning it on right? after it turns on does the data show activity both up and down?

Yeah, the SV is funny. My hotspot would work for my computers but not for my tablet. It was actually one of these Treve Mods that finally allowed me hotspot access to my tablet via the SV.

These Treve Mods are SWEET!!! Well, when they are set up properly anyways.

We have Smith to thank for that. :D

Thanks Smith!!
I went into terminal emulator and found both dns numbers. I changed them both and I still can't get my pc or tablet to see the network (its not listed). When I first started the tethering the download did jump to .03kb then back to zero and stayed there.I checked the logs and everything is in green so thats ok. I found this post, is there more than one treve mod for this wifi tether?? If so, maybe I have the wrong one, I don't know. I know that the hotspot feature does work because I was using the native hotspot on the dandroid rom and both my tablet and pc found the network. Any other suggestions, I am all ears. Thanks for helping.

Hey Smith, just wanted to point out something weird. I had mentioned it before but I'll mention it just for this guys sake. The native hotspot (the one that shows up when installing ADW or one of the other launchers) worked for my computers but my tablet would not work with it. I installed, set up the TreveMod and it worked perfectly with my tablet but then my computers wouldn't work with it. Sooooooo, I used the native hotspot when using my computers and the TreveMod when using my tablet. I didn't follow up on it and troubleshoot because I have a working option for both computer or tablet and I saw no need. :D

LOL... I know, I know...... it's weird how it turned out but what I've got works and that's what matters. 99% of the time the only time I use the hotspot is when connecting to my TF300T when I'm out and about.

Maybe what he needs to try is the native hotspot that actually comes with the phone??;):D

Worked for me on Verizon GS3. Just use Terminal Emulator found in Play store to find your DNS. I had to change from what was posted here.

I used Terminal emulator, but it's blank and doesn't show anything when I run the getprop net.dns2 command. I'm on Boost in SoCal, for getprop net.dns1 I get 192.168.1.1. Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks

I can't help you any more... I lack the know how....
I would suggest factory reset, to clear setting.. Maybe first try deleting data/cache for the app from the app manager... And re install.

As for the MOAR ROM it does have WiFi tether installed on it and it does work without any setting changes.

I just installed this from the OP, inserted my dns numbers and checked on my tablet and pc, still can't see it. I rebooted all 3 devices, still no go. In a couple replies back, there is mention of a native hot spot. Does this rom have a native hotshot?

Just about all of the Sprint ROMS have a hotspot that comes with them. Many of the users have reported that those hotspots worked perfectly for them.
