maxx at Best Buy

Does anyone know why Best Buy hasn't gotten in any Droid Maxxes? I've had one on pre-order since Aug 10. I call Best Buy and they keep saying "maybe the next truck. If I can find out a delivery date I may cancel and get one from Verizon, they have 5 on hand.

It's called Verizon's hierarchy of needs.

1.) Verizon keeps all that they need

2.) Once all that Verizon needs has been met, they tend to feed the line below them.

3.) If the line below them doesn't have any then it's because Verizon is taking care of their needs.

4.) See rule #1

What can be derived from this lack of availability? High demand for a popular phone? Or low production numbers due to a poor sales forecast?

Generally I can get an idea of how popular a phone is based on Amazon sales rank, but they seem to have had few to sell, with far out "ship by" dates.

Forum activity would suggest these phones aren't exactly a smash hit, though this is my first "exclusive to Verizon" device.

When I bought my Maxx on the 30th at a corporate store, the guy said there where 3 left, I got one, he got one and another employee. Who knows if it was true though. Their employees are not trained very well. My brother went in on Friday (I had to go with him) to pick up the LG G2. The sales lady knew nothing about it.

My brother patiently taught her about the phone (wireless charging a VZW exclusive, 2 tap screen to unlock, etc). He also asked for a quick window case. She said "this phone doesn't have one". My brother corrected her and she finally brought one out. They didn't even have an LG G2 on display.

Sorry for OT.

I think it's probably a combination of of low forecast (knowing the G2, Note 3 and iPhone 5s where all coming) plus more demand for the beast battery than they expected.

Amazon's open to orders again, but still not in stock and no ship date.

I looked again at the Sales Rank and found a different number for "On Contract Phones" (instead of all cell phones and accessories). Interesting numbers:

#1 HTC One
#2 S4
#3 S4 white
#21 Mini
#27 G2
#38 Moto X
#57 Moto X white
#67 Ultra Red
#68 MAXX
#73 Ultra

(these are all for service on VZW -- so for instance, HTC One on AT&T is ranked at #15)

So Amazon's selling this phone... but obviously "blackout" days aren't helping, nor (I imagine) does the constant "unavailable / no ETD" listing. Hopefully good news soon for you.

They are starting to pop-up at Best Buys around DC and Philly. There was a store close to me, so I took my lunch to stop by and pick-up my phone. Unfortunately, there were two things I found out:

1. My phone didn't garner as much in the buy back plan as I thought it would. That's more on me than them;
2. They will not price match online retailers for cell phones anymore, so those of you waiting because of that fact, I would wait no longer. Here is the new(ish?) fine print from their website:

The Guarantee is limited to one price match per identical item, per guest and does not apply to: Contract mobile phones sold by any online retailer, the online prices of retailers not listed, the online prices of third party vendors (Marketplace vendors) on designated major online retailers websites, post purchase price match requests to competitor's prices, Best Buy for Business
