Should I get this phone?

Having use this phone for almost a year now i would have to say i highly recommend it. The performance is great and smooth. I don't use the original launcher that comes with the phone (TouchWiz) because it sort of lagged a little bit. I use Nova Prime and man that thing flies.

If there is something i would improve a little about this phone is the battery life. I wouldn't say it is bad, but if i use it heavily the phone is dead by 4 or 5 pm.

From time to time the phone will experience the occasional "so and so program crashed" message. But that has to do more with specific apps and the android ecosystem as a whole.

Buy this phone or the Nexus 4 which is even cheaper. I would highly recommend either one. HTC One is a beast too but considerably more expensive.

I mentioned on another forum that battery life with our S3 is quite poor. I was immediately blasted by others saying that I was wrong There are several versions of the S3 (we have an I747M), so results may vary. As you can see by dportal2006's post, we are not the only ones with battery issues.

A second battery has been suggested, and while it's not hard to change the battery, It's still a nuisance.

I've had this phone since last July and I highly recommend it. I actually wanted a different phone, but it wasn't available on my carrier (HTC One X). I'm so glad I got the SGS3. It's been pretty rock solid other than when I rooted my phone. Any issues are primarily with the apps. The only weird issues I had was that it rebooted a few times back in the spring. I haven't experienced this in several months now.

After over a year, I still feel that it is as smooth as when I first got it. Actually, it's a little bit smoother after getting the Jellybean update back in December.

I've read mostly good reviews, but reviews usually don't mention weird bugs that people run into down the line.
That's because the vast and overwhelming percentage of owners are not troubled by weird bugs. But millions of S3's are out there, and out of millions of people there are bound to be some (a small percentage, but still tens of thousands of people, at least) who run into problems with the phone which cause them real annoyance.

And this holds true for pretty much every sophisticated electronic device, not just the Samsung S3.

So, if you've had this phone for a while, please tell me if you'd recommend it.
I've had mine since a couple of weeks after the S3's initial release. I'm quite satisfied with it.

No, it isn't perfect in every detail. No device designed by someone other than myself is going to suit me perfectly in every way. That's just the reality of things - there are thousands of design and feature implementation decisions which go into any such product, and to assume that the good people at Samsung will just happen to make exactly the same decisions as I would in each and every case is a bit of a stretch. But overall, I'm happy with the phone. At least, I don't see any other phone out there which I'd like substantially more than I do my S3. So I figure I'll keep it for another year or so, then see what's out there. Maybe a Samsung S5 will convince me to upgrade. (Not to knock the S4, but at least to me, it's not all that significant an improvement over my current phone.)

As for whether I'd recommend the S3 to you, well, how can I? I have no idea what your needs, priorities, reasonable preferences, or irrational biases are, in terms of a phone. Just because I like a given food, piece of music, or automobile - or phone - doesn't mean you will, too. Personal tastes do vary.
