Root Another JB Update?!

I don't think it would be because it's MB3, mine says MD6 and phil and I have the same problem.

I will give this a try later tonight or tomorrow, depending if my kids give me the time, lol

For those with update issues. Are you able to restore a nand backup? If so and you have not yet tried this; after Nand restore ;then restore stock recovery.

This should allow to try a force update or kies to bring the device up to current.

I tired this method and it didn't work. Gave me a status 6 error.

Hi all. I joined just to help out if I can at all.
When I tried to get these updates I ran into mad problems with #7 errors as well.
What ended up working for me was getting the stock rom backup files from post #5 from the Out of the box sticky.
Then I copied them to the ext sdcard in the folder /clockworkmod/backup/StockICS
Rebooted into clockwork and did a restore from external sdcard.
After that finished I was back to everything stock and got the push for the MB3 update.
I flashed back to a stock recovery with Odin, booted up and the update was in the cache folder and it let me apply the update from cache!
Then I kept checking for updates till I got to MI2 baseband.
Once completely updated it was simple enough to reflash clockwork and the oh so sweet kernel from mrg666!
Pretty sure I had flashed MB3 improperly at some point even tho the phone worked fine.

Anyway hope this helps someone.

I do have my backup with all my original files, I did a backup before I removed bloatware and messed with it. I tried it with my backup and still didn't work.

Finally. FINNNAAALLLY. I got the update too work!
I flashed the MD6 update http://d-h.st/bDt that n0tallOwed posted and then I flashed the MD12 update http://goo.gl/AEaEeU mrg666 posted.
Much simpler fix than I thought it was going to be!
Greasemonkey, maybe try and flash MD6 even though you already have it. And then do MD12 like I did. See if that gets it workin for ya.

Im in the middle of doing the kies right now and it actually seems to be working now. Didnt work on my win 7 laptop but working so far on my win xp desktop. If kies fails then I will try out that method and see if it works. Glad it work for you thou.

Glad it worked. After beating my head against the wall I saw I also had baseband m3 and figured why not:)

I'm back! I heard that there was a JB update that fixed the freezing screen so I went back. I flashed factory JB, updated to MI2, installed the Mirage kernel, and ... more freezing. Got about 4 hrs. use without issue, it froze up, then the screen started freezing every 20 minutes. I've got all the bloatware frozen, plenty of open space on the memory, but man if my phone doesn't just love to do the unresponsive touch screen.

I think I'll go back to that Stock Rom Plus, that seemed to work excellent. I sure love some of the JB features though. If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it.

I have MD12 and I still have an update notification. Just installed a ROM. Dunno if that has anything to do with it.
I'll install it and see what happens.

Yes it does. The software used for partytime is pre update. So it is based on version 6 I believe. So update won't take. You just have the newest base band basically

So I haven't seen anything about this yet, but here's something ive run into. I did the reverting to stock via Kies and then did the update to jellybean and then re-rooted. well a few days ago a new system update popped up. it says its for "your Samsung Galaxy Rush" well I did a nandroid backup, installed it and after the install it said that I had lost root and offered to re-root, I accepted that option and the phone rebooted, then it had nearly nonstop pop ups of different google services force closing and they were not going away, tried rebooting and removing the battery and nothing. finally I resorted to reverting to my backup. Any suggestions because the update is still flashing as an option now.

thanks for replying, dunno how I missed that.

Soooo last night my phone installed that blasted update WHILE I WAS ASLEEP -.-; I kid you not, I woke up and checked my phone and it said "update installed would you like to reboot" -.-; damn phone. Sooo I rebooted, it didn't give me a chance to fix root and I couldn't reboot into cwmod recovery. So I booted into download mode and used odin to re-root. Hoping now it won't have all the errors. I just wish we had more details about this new update here in the forum.

I'm gonna assume that your phone was just idle, and not off. But even idle, that's still pretty weird that it did not wait for an acknowledgement to actually install.
So the M12 is in and working, now? And how did the Odin reinstall go? Did it take multiple attempts, or did it take off and fly 1st time? Myself, I had a couple of issues, and it took a few times and a different route to get there.
You're using the CWMT 6.0.3.6 that MRG666 put out, yes?
