I need help, please talk me down from the ledge....

They are both fine devices, hard to go wrong with either. In my case, the Note series is just too big for me. I'm a holster-wearing dinosaur (I just can't put a phone in my pocket, not since the Moto Razr), and that makes me look geeky as is with a 5" phone.

While my eyes would appreciate a bigger screen, wearing a tablet (almost) on my belt is a bit over the line for me. Now if I were a woman and could carry a purse... I'd be all over the Notes.

I think it is just a matter of preference and if you use the s pen. I don't have either phone but i would personally keep the G2. That screen in that small body is great. The Note 3 just seems to big .

I personally find the G2 to be the "sweet spot" in size. Gorgeous big-but-not-too-big screen. It's a powerhouse with killer features and almost edge to edge screen. I can reach all 4 corners with one hand and the colors, to me, look better than any other phone (and I'm a graphic designer who does a LOT of color correction for a living and I'm pretty critical of color). And it's just been a solid phone. The only feature on the Note that I like is the stylus (again, going back to being a designer who has been using a wacom tablet for 20 years now) but on a phone the stylus doesn't tempt me as much as it does on a tablet. That being said, I don't have anything against the Note 3, it was just too big for my stubby little hands AND being $100 more made it less appealing too.

Is your G2 rooted yet? If you're on the edge of deciding to keep the G2 and aren't rooted, then definitely keep the G2. I can post a before root/nova/GMD and after. As damn good as this phone is out of the box, I love it modded.

The one thing I do not like about the Samsung line is the home button. I liked the gnex because it was button less with the navbar, much like the G2. But having the ability to hide the navbar and have no buttons on the phone makes it much cleaner looking and perfect, IMO.

Part of the reason I haven't gotten the G2 yet is that I was waiting for final Note 3 reviews.

My honest opinion is that you should stick with the G2, regardless of if you were wanting to be "talked down from the ledge" or not. Honestly in my personal comparisons, the Note 3 came up with nothing to make me forget about the G2.

The more screen the better in my opinion, BUT, I also think it would be a pain to have a device that you can't one-hand comfortably, I don't even know how well a Note 3 would fit in a cup holder or shelf in the center console of my car for using Pandora while driving. I'm not sure that the half inch extra screen space is really worth the added issue of having to carry it around and being less comfortable to use. It's not just that you get an extra half inch of screen with the Note, there's extra heft to deal with in the larger bezels etc.

I've seen divided opinions about which display is better but I personally like the colors and whites on the G2 much better than the Note.

One review I saw said the G2 battery crushes the Note 3 in a screen-on web-browsing stress test, with the G2 getting something like 4 hours more.

I really don't see the S-Pen doing anything all that amazing and if you want to doodle on top of a screen shot or whatever, you can still do that with any regular non-stylus phone by just using an app. If there's something about the S-Pen that matters more to you than to me, then maybe this factors in more for you. I don't care about having a stylus with a few extra speakers.

It seemed like most of this year I was seeing everyone complain about devices that still came with physical buttons on the phone, the G2 uses on screen nav bar, and now I've seen a bunch of people saying they hate when buttons take up screen space. Someone demonstrated above that you can make the nav bar auto hide on the G2. Meanwhile the samsung still has a home button. Again, matter of opinion.

Note 3 got decent camera reviews but nobody raved about it as much as the G2 camera, although some people say they've had bad results with the G2 camera.

I think the back buttons on the G2 actually make sense and while I don't have mine yet, I'm certainly I won't be one of the whiners who think it's annoying or hard to use. I actually thoroughly applaud LG for at least trying something new while other brands keep doing the same thing.

I'd still take the G2 over the Note 3 for: battery life, colors/whites of the display, camera, G2 is hardly any larger overall than my Bionic, LG UI actually seems a bit less of a mess than TouchWIz at this point, etc.

I was torn between the two when I upgraded. I personally thought that the NOTE 2 was too big, and I love how the G2 is just a little bit bigger than the GNex was on verizon. It feels really good in my hands, and I love the features that LG has added. I loved them so much, I have put off rooting it and testing it out as is.

I also have the tray set up as transparent, so it gets rid of the white bar, and puts the background there to fill it out.

Its amazing how quickly you adapt to the knock on isn't it? I was knocking on my tablet and wife's gs3 within 2 days of getting the G2, I turned into a knock on crack baby. Going into the purchase i just saw the knock on as sales gimmick and planned just using the power button, boy was i wrong. By far has to be the best feature ever.

Note 3 is more samsung crap. Just scrolling on a webpage up and down lags in the sense that doesnt stick to your finger. Sort of follows behind.

Also i would never use that pen. Its a lot more expensive just for an extra 1gb of ram.

Not worth it. Samsung is just putting out phone after phone month after month and never really taking time to perfect anything.

I bet youll miss the G2.

i was in a similar boat as you and but between the iPhone, and on day 14 of owning my g2 i panicked and returned it because it was last day of return window n i SOOOO regretted it! few days later i couldnt take it any more and went and rebought another g2 ... two actually, one more for my girl lol now we both love our g2s!! but i did end up having to exchange my second g2 cause it was acting weird n not as good as the first g2 i had

I caught myself "Knocking" on my niece's iPad... talk about getting accustomed to something quickly.

I've been doing this also with pretty much every smartphone/tablet I come across now. It drives me nuts now how other phone don't have this awesome feature.
