Galaxy S Plus I9001 is very slow

Hello,

I got a Galaxy S Plus, but it's soooooooo slow!
It also restarts automatically and some apps just crash because it just can't handle it.
Is there anything I can do to make it somewhat faster?
I don't want to root it.
It has the latest version and Vodafone did a hard reset for me but it still is super slow!
Who can help me?

It's an old phone, you probably have android 2.3.x installed on it.
You best option is to install Cyanogen Mod on it, they have a stable and lean version of Android 4.2 that works fine. But don't expect any miracles, it will only get you so far.

Yeah, unfortunately, the older, earlier devices were indeed pretty underpowered compared to the devices you see nowadays.

Limiting the apps you have installed and use, making sure you don't have sync enabled for things you don't primarily use, clearing the cache on large memory users like the browser, and doing a restart every other day or so would be the only things I know that might help a bit.
