Help Samsung Keyboard Forgets Dictionary?

Just over the last few weeks my Sprint S4 seems to have completely forgotten the saved dictionary words I've spent the last year getting it to memorize. It's ducking frustrating. Did something happen over the last month or so that reset dictionaries? It also doesn't appear to be adding words to the dictionary now.

And yes, I know, Swype keyboard, but I prefer the number row on top of the default keyboard.

Sorry, I won't be of any help. The extend of my experience with Samsung's keyboard doesn't go beyond typing "Swiftkey" in the app store, to download the keyboard as soon as I get new phone.

Which by the way, I would strongly recommend. While I totally understand the benefits of easy number access, it is by far outweigh by the features Swiftkey offers. Cloud storage across all devices, keeping your words in sync and easy to restore upon migration to new device. Swype like gesture typing, and unbelievably accurate prediction, which constantly learns your typing style, and pretty much figures out very quickly, what is the next word you want to type, even without typing the first letter, or as soon as you type the first letter. Making writing on the device very quick and effortless.

Check it out, it's way worth the money.

Another option is the Kii keyboard which also uses Swype like functions and has the number row at the top. Of the 11 different KBs I've tried, this has become my favorite.

All KBs I've tried have their pluses and minuses. I also liked the stock GS4 keyboard, but the dictionary thing (I believe a result of the Apple lawsuit) sent me looking elsewhere.

Thanks for the tips. I've just moved over to Swype for now. I'll just have to retrain myself to hold down the number keys.

It's really a shame though, the Samsung keyboard layout (with a few exceptions) was, in my opinion, superior. Swype has much better prediction and larger keys though.

Still interested in a fix or something if anyone knows.

A work around on the keys is to modify the long press time... I suggest around 200 ms. That makes the numbers work better... but if you tend to hesitate on the keys, can work against you. Play with it until you find something that works for you. I think Swype will let you mod the long press time. If not, Swiftkey will.

One drawback I found with Swiftkey was that I couldn't imbed a period... as in triad.rr.com without backing up to insert it after the fact.
