id say people over look the lg g2 is because the button placement.
they take a look at it and say wtf thats weird because they are use to it being on the sides.

honestly when i saw it i thought thats pretty cool it seems logical.
and to be perfectly honest the buttons placement feels pretty dang natural it feels like its actually ment to be there.

other company's should take note for lg's brilliant idea.

if you have any other reason why people over look it please post.

I think it has to do with marketing; I see the LG commercials all of time, but can't tell you what they are about, other than something about the camera. They just aren't memorable like Nokia/WP8 and Samsung commercials, despite it being a hardware beast :) I bet if I didn't currently own a G2, I probably would have even noticed the G2 commercials...I guess having a LG monitor also helped with brand recognition...how many people in America own LG products?

This phone sure does seem overlooked and it's a shame.

As far as the buttons go, that does seem to turn a lot of people off, but I feel totally the opposite about it.

I haven't completely decided to get the G2 yet but I actually want to give LG my money because I respect the attempt to innovate. When is the last time a phone really tried to do something different like the rear button placement? Everybody else keeps doing the same thing. And this wasn't just a novelty gimmick with no purpose, it's actually an integral part of getting the bezel size smaller and packing a larger screen into a reasonable sized device because of the room the rear buttons free up.

do people not realize that LG has made the Nexus 4, and now the nexus 5. Think that should show people how series LG is about Google and the Android OS

I think a lot of people on forums do realize this and is possibly a factor to people skipping over it. Unless they're on Verizon, they may be holding out for the Nexus 5 since they see that the G2 is such a good phone and that the Nexus 5 is based on it.

It's branding, pure and simple. Apple is marketing done right. Their commercials make technophiles want to throw something through the TV screen, like announcing noise cancelling mics or panoramic pictures, years after everyone else had those features. But they are effective for the masses, plus the trend factor.

Samsung also did it right, by releasing a brand "Galaxy" and going after the competition, Apple (even though not Android competition). They also released to every single carrier globally. People ask, is that the new Galaxy, etc. They don't know the models, when they are released or anything, just the brand.

IMHO, LG needs to do the following. They need a brand name. They ditched the Optimus name, but come up with a new one that's easy and catchy. And G2? Hasn't that already been used. Did they take the page from the HTC marketing playbook by naming another phone "One" (seriously though, how many HTC "One" phones are there, lol).

Market the hell out of it, and go after Apple and Samsung. Direct comparisions. Make it seem hipper than the competition. Make people want it over the competition.

Showing rear buttons and knock-knock isn't going to cut it. How about a SGS4 owner with a dead battery and his girlfriend's G2 still has 80% battery life. It could start at the beach where he can't see anything on the AMOLED screen in the sun (showcasing the georgous screen), then the speed as it does tasks faster, culminating in his battery dying.

Lastly, a full assault with accessories. How many people see all the accessories and go that route.

Just a quick thought, but that's how you're going to get people. No one wants to spend the time researching, they want to be told why something is better. That's apple's marketing in a nutshell.

Most people don't know what a Nexus is, much less want one. Only us forum junkies care.

Some people say that this g2 has problems with the camera and video . The focus wont stop and it messing with the video shots . I have seen one returned cause the phone had a crack in the bottom corner since they got it looks as if someone cracked it and crazy glued it back . They had to fight but got a new one that had something rattling in it . But lg taken full responsibility and replacing those devices.

Yeah, the T-Mobile G2 (aka the HTC Desire Z)

And yes, most people don't know what a Nexus is, which is why I said a lot of people on forums ;) The general public will follow the best advertisements, which is no surprise.

Definitely a brand thing. I mean, when I got my previous phones, the GNex, and Tbolt, there was just nothing LG was putting out that excited me. Everything new that they came out with, always seemed a half-step behind everyone else. People putting out 8 MP cams, they had a 5, processor was a half behind, memory was less, just everything was behind the other new things. Even when I had my Gnex, and had moments where I was wondering what else might be out there, LG phones never even jumped to mind. It wasn't until I sat down and actually checked out the specs, that I even gave it a thought. Like it's been said, it's been an overshadowed brand for so long, that it really needs this phone to do what it's done, and bring them back at least onto the map, so they can hopefully continue to wow in the future to get back up.

I havent looked twice at an LG device ever. I went service hopping for a while before deciding to stick with Verizon. I had the ATT Infuse, Sprint Epic 4g, VZW Gnex and now the G2. My first ever LG and the first that I've ever considered. I had the Gnex since release and nothing else ever sparked any interest, until now. I was walking by a Verizon booth in the mall, glanced at the G2, though "ooh nice"... and went about my day.

A few days went by, and I found myself reading reviews, watching videos... and then I knew, the G2 was going to be my next phone.

The only thing I would like to do it find a way to take off the glass and remove the logo's from behind.

None of us did, which is why we all have one. But the majority out there are like drones just following the Galaxy.

Galaxy is crap. The Note 3 is more expensive with half the memory. And tge software lags. Just scrolling a website is painful. Like the phone is on a delay.

G2 is the shit at this point. Latest hardware for a price point nobody can beat. It should be the biggest selling android phone.

Problem is samsung spends all their money churning out crap so theyre in people's faces constantly.

I've only owned two other LGs. A flip phone (color screen!!!) and a Chocolate. Both were just fine.
As a Verizon customer, AFAIK, the only LG smartphones they've carried where the Revolution, Spectrum 1/2. If there were any others, I've no idea. This is the only one I've been interested in. Software isn't the best, development is sluggish so far, but I love it.
LG seems to be in a similar camp as HTC; advertising is a little stagnant and misguided at best whereas Samsung and Apple just to so much better.

Haha, that's funny that we get offended when someone disrespects the phone by calling it a Samsung. But, I have one better for you. When I first got the gnex, some girl walked up to me and said, "is that the new iPhone?"... Needless to say, she deserved a slap for that one, but I just politely said no.

I had an lg feature phone i loved. Then I got another lg feature phone with a terrible ui and an impossible screen.

Recently I got the lg optimus f7 and I like it very much.

Battery time is reduced though, since I added widgets and stuff. But based on the display and some other stuff, it's a very nice phone at a good price. They don't seem to inflate their prices yet, maybe because they don't have the brand recognition of Samsung or Apple.
