Note 3 Lag Problem

My Note 3 has a slight lag when opening contacts (3+ seconds) for the first time. However, the second time I open it, it opens instantly.

After I clear all the running apps (incl the contacts) in the task manager, it lags again when opening the contacts.

Does anyone else have the same problem? If yes, how many seconds does it take you to open the contacts?
I tried my friend's Mega 6.3, and it doesn't have this lag at all, even for first time opening.

I have 4300 contacts that sync via miscrosoft active sync with exchange 2010 server. It works fine for about a day or two then my contacts won't load up for about 20 seconds and then when I try to open a particular contact it takes about the same time. The only fix I have found is removing account and RE adding. Then it starts all over again in about 2 days. I have tried syncing account with different apps that are not the stock contacts for syncing like enhanced email and same problem.

I used to have a Samsung s3 and lg optimus pro and did not have this problem.

I run whatsapp and Prip which also read from the contacts and trying to solve by removing each app and diagnosing if it solves it.

Reduce the amount of widgets you use, and turn off services like bluetooth, smart stay, air view, air gesture, smart pause etc. if you don't use them.

The change won't immediately be noticeable, but it will help.

thanks guys for the replies.
I've decided to learn to live with the lag. It's about 3 seconds for me (opening contacts again after they have been closed).

I tried some of the note 3 displays they have at the Samsung stores, and none of them has this problem.
Also my friend's mega, which is supposed to be slower, doesn't have this problem as well (1 second max).

I also notice a little lag opening some of the Settings menu. I had expected a flagship Note 3 with 3 GB RAM to be very fast, with no lag. But I guess I'll have to live with it.

My issue turned out to be an app that was causing the issues. You removed the app called Prip and I no longer have issues. Apparently samsung changed something on this version of touch wiz and causes the incompatibility. I reported the issue to Prip and they confirmed they had a similar problem with a samsung galaxy 4 with a lot of contacts. I would check out any app you have that access the contacts and try removing

Guys, I think I may have finally found out the cause for the lag.
When I first got the phone, I disabled/turned off CHAT ON.

I just tried to turn it back on again, and guess what.
Now it only takes 1-1.5 seconds to load the contacts even though I've closed it from the task manager.

Hope this is helpful to some of you guys who have this problem as well ;)
I'm not sure why, but I think I've solved my lag problem :D

That was one of the first things I did when I bought my new Note 3 :) You may also want to go to Settings,General,Backup and reset and make sure everything there is switched off.

One of the 1st things I do when I get a Galaxy device is (Currently using Note 3 on Sprint)...

1. Turn off S Voice (Use Google Now). Double tap the home button go through the start up and uncheck "Open via the home button". I then disable the app altogether.

2. Unlock the developer settings... Menu, settings, general, about device tap on the build number until you unlock developer settings. Select back once and you should see Developer options. Scroll down to Drawing section, select window animation scale and turn that off. Do the same for Transition animation, Animator duration. Under that select force GPU rendering.

3. Install Nova Launcher ( Fast and endless customization)

With what I suggested above I don't see any lag on my device and I'm not rooted (yet). I have used quickpic but the stock gallery has so much more functionality. The contacts load up for me without any issue as well.

Hope that this helps.

My Note 3 is pleasantly lag free and particularly fast and smooth.

One method I use to optimize it for best performance is to-do a quick Google search on any app I'm considering, but know little about. I simply enter the name of the app and the keyword lag, into the search field. It returns lots of useful info. Thus far it's been a very rewarding practice resulting in complete avoidance of lag and assuring great speed and stability of my Note 3.

The more due diligence I apply while continuing to optimize my Note 3, has produced results that are nothing short of amazing. The true capabilities of this model never ceases to impress.

As I read the replies here it makes me think how- as much as I love Samsung's Note line- I don't like having to pull tricks out my sleeve to "optimize" these power house phones to use them.

Everyone gets excited because the ram has been upped but what's the point of the increase if you're experiencing lag? ..... doesn't matter where the lag is coming from.....(phone, gallery...etc) it's still there.
