So, Long story short. My friend gave me his Spectrum modded with Cyanogen 10. something or other. It had been working fine but yesterday I turned it off completely and when I turned it back on, it went into boot loop. I tried different ROMs but nothing worked. One would keep boot looping, and another would just lock up during boot. I could get into CWM 6.0.1.1 without a problem. I've been reading all day and night about different things to do. I updated my CWM to touch. I reset it every time in between installing ROMs. I wiped cache, dalvik cache, and everything else that I could wipe. I've used the bootloopfix without any luck. The only ROM I can get to boot is the BrokenoutSpectrum3 and it barely works. Actually, there are a lot of things that don't work. I heard that they released the OTA ICS for it.

How can I get back to stock so I can OTA ICS?

I've heard about .cabs, but I can't find the correct way to flash a .cab or even the .cab files.

Anymore information I can provide just let me know.

Sorry for the newb questions. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Install the drivers for your Spectrum if you have not already: http://androidfiles.massivefilehost.com/drivers/LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.3.1.msi

Grab this and install: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe

Let it update over the internet when you run it the first time.

Go options -> upgrade recovery

Follow the on screen instructions. You're on a GB based rom, so you should have no issues getting the program to auto pull the settings, but if you do, just type in your IMEI. Let it do it's thing and make sure you're not on a USB hub and that you're using a quality USB cable.

When all is said and done, you should be on ICS V8. You may need to factory reset your phone if you run into boot loops after the update.

Let us know how it goes.

For the most part... It's a horrible idea to wipe anything other than Dalvik, Cache, and Data. Occasionally, it's acceptable to wipe system as well.

I know CWM gives you more options to wipe than that but... Dont.

Wow! So let me start out by saying with all of the research I was doing, two names kept coming up in replies. I didn't think that I would be worthy of getting replies from the two of you!!!!

I really need to thank you. I ran the program. The first boot hung, so I did a factory reset. Now I'm running 4.0.4! Just what I needed. THANK YOU GUYS SOOOO MUCH!!!!

I was about to blow up my phone!

Next time I get a used phone, I'm just gonna make sure it's stock. Then if I want to root it, at least I'll know that I'm the one who messed it up!

Thanks again!!!!
