I've read you guys have been flashing tmobile roms on the metro galaxy s4.... Questions :

-on xda there is "original tmobile s4 development " and "tmobile s4 development", which one out of the two?

-has anyone flashed successfully a 4.3 or 4.3.1?

-what's the deal with Cyanogenmod mod, does the tmobile version work on metro?

-any issues overall?

I'm asking bcz i refuse to own a $600 door stop :D

Tmobile development has all the touch wiz based roms, including the one I posted specifically for our metropcs device. Original tmobile development has cm aosp pa and the like. No reason not to try roms in both forums.

You should be able to flash any tmobile rom including cm and many others. Some work better than others with our phone I think, ill let you reach your own conclusions. The same goes for recoveries and root. They should all work.

I haven't personally read of anyone with a M919N that flashed a 4.3 rom and had it 100% working. I don't get around a lot though :)

No real issues to speak of except perhaps when flashing from a tmobile rom to a metropcs rom.

The 4,3 has minor issues but It was ported from the international version, but it still ran good. The use should be getting the update in a couple weeks or less from whats been going around. Sammy said in Oct but carriers has to add their bloat so could be sonner than later hopefully.

Nice to see you again Super. ;)

Nice to see you nuttmeg. What are you running? I refuse to do tw based roms, theyre too large. Do you think the 4.2.2 aosp roms will run better than the 4.3? What issues are there with the 4.3?

There's plenty of options aside the tw roms I personally have not try any asoo or cm roms I have the tmobile s4, have you been superuser I remember you from the esteem days, but you can't go wrong if you planning on buying an s4

What's up mike-e, im still holding on to my esteem, still rocking it. We're talking about my girl's s4, so I can never be too careful. I'm more worried about the whole Lte and data related issues. I've read enough to know that data may not be really affected, yet I don't want her to have any force closing issues either. I just wanted some feedback from ppl I knew from back in the esteem days. So far I got a few suggestions, hoping for some specific suggestions from experience. What's everyone who has the metro version using? How can I save the current APNs from metro before I go into a tmobile rom; can the metro APNs be restored once I'm on a tmobile rom and the data will be better or should I keep the tmobile APNs?

Im running a custom touch wiz rom. Ive installed slim bean too, but didnt stay long. It seemed to work well, i only stopped using it cause i prefer tw roms.

Apns from metro wont do you any good. The metro s4 is on tmobiles gsm network while most other metro phones (like the esteem and the first s3) are on metropcs cdma network. We basically have a tmobile phone abd tmobile service but pay our bills to metro.

So I tried pacman and liquid. Wiped before flashing both, pacman would not lock LTE, it would switch between all known data signal but the LTE. Liquid ran OK, LTE was there as soon as I rebooted. Didn't stay long enough on either one to test anything else. So I went back to the stock back up I had made. I tried a few existing mods on stock odexed :

Data toggle on the notification bar using sqlite editor= worked
Xposed framework with Wanam module:
-4way reboot menu= worked
-long press back button kills app= worked
-torch/flashlight on when holding up volume key while screen off= worked
-changing status bar colors= did not work
-a few other small mods within Wanam didn't work
Enabling record call module =froze the call every time, can't say it worked.
The mod for the native hotshot tethering app didn't work (found wifi tether router and seems to do the job)

There's two other mods you can try with xposed XBlast and xuimod they have some good options and most work fine wicked rom is nice but it's tw but honestly those tw roms are nice and the devs have made them just like an asop rom in a way btw you got the esteem with gingerbread or did cm ever made it to the esteem?

We had someone pick up where pg left off and was making some progress but his esteem broke and I think most esteemers missed the memo and they're still in Wonderland waiting for cm; it ain't happening, I don't think.
