Well I updated to Jelly Bean, I think, and now all of my music and photos on the SD card and on the phone are not loading to their respective libraries/galleries. Now my wife got the update last week and her media loaded back fine. Is there a way to self scan or repopulate the libraries/galleries? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

the stuff on the sd card will scan fine, the stuff on the phone is lost forever... updating deletes the internal memory and the default storage location for recorded video and taken pictures used to be the internal memory. that may very well be why nothing is showing up, kuz nothing is there

ah, so you didnt factory reset. that might be your issue right there. parts of the old gallery may be stuck in memory, but it should technically wipe your entire data partition, so things on the actual removable card will still be there but the things on the internal will not, that would cause you to lose some if not all of your things

file a.jpg was one your internal, file b.jpg was on your external
after update file b shows up but file a doesnt because file a has been deleted

i think you are just confusing yourself to be quite honest. they probably are populating completely, you just lost a bunch of stuff in the upgrade and there is no real way to fix that

I actually updated my girl's sequent from ota using cwm and it didn't data wipe at all. All her apps and games were still there after the update. It was giving issues so I ended up total wiping flashing partitions and flashing one of the updates posted on the forums and all is well now. Just wanted to throw out that for whatever reason the ota didn't wipe data for me either. Not sure if it was just because it was installed through cwm

k, sorry bout that im just used to people being highly confused and dead set on believing they arent. but you are right it does all seem to be there, problem with that is, it may all have to go for things to work right... i recommend copying it all to the sdcard, then doing a factory reset, then try copying it back, if that doesnt work just have a cwm backup ready and you can go back to the way things were

there is a good chance that the old remnants of the gallery app are conflicting with the new version or something along those lines. factory reset may very well solve your problem just remember everything stored on the phone will be deleted so copy the dcim folder to the sd somewhere, make a backup in cwm, do a factory reset, put the stuff back, see if it helps

I had a similar problem and what I did was go into my gallery and select "show hidden files", then into my file manager and pick a (any) pic that the gallery didn't show & open it after the option showed "open with.." Command. The pic showed and I hit Back button all the way out. I did the same thing with my screenshot file, and then the same thing with a video as well. After backing out, ALL my video files and pics showed up in gallery. BAM!:D

I cant remember the details but my libs/galls on my phone disappeared after update to and i went to my pc and went through my files via the pc and found some of my stuff but i found several programs online for recovering missing files on your phone and i dont remember what they were called 2 failed and one found most of them and i restored them so i changed my settings to sd card only unless otherwise and check it now and then plus i sync my phone at the end of every month to cloud storage now
