Root [GUIDE] Installing CWM and a custom ROM on the Motorola Triumph

Hi, I am a noob. Tried to get CWM into my triumph. Follow instruction on post #1, and booted up and see blue CWM 5.0.4.4. But that is it. whatever I do, I see a hat with an orange arrow and it just sit over there and wont do no squat. I was able to navigate and choose from the menu, but it just stuck at this hat and yellow arrow icon. What can I do? Motorola triumph 2.2.2 CWM 5.0.4.4. I have to take out the battery to reboot and the phone still work.

TIA,

bun

Are you hitting the correct button to select the menu?

Volume up --> up
Volume down --> down
Menu --> select
Back --> back

Mantera: You are the man. The select key is the menu, I was using the power key, silly me. And now it works like a jam. I made my 1st Nand backup. Question, Where would I find the file, I want to copy out to a PC to safe store it. I knows some adb push and pull and /mnt etc. I just want to know where is this nand back up hiding and what does it call.

The next question: what is a good ROM to flash. My goal is tethering. That is it. I dont care about hdmi. I want wifi hotspot. So far, my reading suggest
1) Tingerguy CM7
2) Sharp ROM (not sure it tether)
3) ICS alpha
4) Would any of these disturb my virgin mobile phone, I mean, the phone still work, right?

TIA,

bun

You might want to start in the thread that you got the ROM. On top of that, you may have a bad download. You could try downloading the ROM again and checking the MD5checksum if it's listed.

I have an Android Allwinner A10 tablet running A8 cortex ARMV7 CPU.
Its branded SVP TPC1051
I followed instructions to the T to get into recovery . In the recovery It says use Volume up and down to navigate. However that does NOT work. Neither does tapping the screen work. Volume + /- navigation gives me a red triangle with exclamation mark and nothing else happens

This is the forum for the Motorola Triumph. You would probably find more correct support in the forums for your device.

If you're using a mac, you'll get stumped on moving files between phone and computer. This worked for me with stock Triumph, but give the computer time (at least 60 seconds or more) to read the phone and whatever storage card you have.

Older Android devices have a USB Storage Mode that can be activated by plugging your device into your Mac, pulling down the notification shade, and tapping on the USB notification. From there, select "Turn on USB Storage."
At this point, your Android phone will appear as a drive on your desktop. Open it, and you'll be able to move files to and from your phone's various folders.
When using this method, make sure you unmount your Android device before disconnecting it from your Mac. To do this, open Finder and click on the Eject icon next to your device. Not ejecting, or unmounting, your device before disconnecting can corrupt the storage on your device, which results in lost files.

This is it, the thread you'll want if you're sick of stock Virgin Triumph (and you have a mac). I installed the following ROM: MTDEV-CM7 build 2013-03-03 Without Bootsound, took my time, did it per instructions, and so far it works great. On a mac, you don't need to install the Android SDK (software developer kit), don't have to mess around with installing Java, and you don't need anything but that first page and a USB cable. Very nice, many thanks. Wish I'd come across this thread much sooner.

What you booted into was the stock recovery so it seems as if you didn't replace the recovery properly. Try unplugging everything from the phone and then taking the battery out for 30-60 seconds then replace the battery and press and hold volume down and then while holding it press the power button. Does a black screen with white scrolling text come up?

I did the same thing as him when i push the power and vol down i get the boot mode so what do i need to do because i made a mistake and when i tried to put a rom on my phone i just copied all the files in the image folder and saved it to my pc then deleted them . and added the rom bu then the miui rom was just kept flashing so I went back removed it tried to copy and past the original image file and now when i try to go to boot mode it goes to the white triangle and exclamation mark with the droid icon. can you help me out

Totally confused:thinking:
Do you have access to the recovery? That's both volume keys and then power.

the triangle with exclamation mark is stock recovery. put clockwork mod recovery on it.

All you do is boot into download mode (vol+ power down) plug into computer, and put the recovery.img file (from cwm) in the Image directory, overwriting the existing recovery.img file.
Then eject the Mobile drive on computer and unplug usb.
Pull battery and replace.
Boot into recovery mode (power+ both vol) and you should be in cwm recovery.
If not, this has to be ironed out first.
