Root [ROM][ICS] Paranoid Android Ver1.6 Beta from source (31JUL2013)

For some reason Google Play Store is not working in the Sep build (I upgraded from July 31 build without reflashing Gappas). The store always says no connection.

Reflash GAPPS. I have no problems with Play. I followed the instructions to flash the new rom from the July build and reflashed GAPPS (like it says to) before I booted the first time.

Going to give 9-6-13 a shot. Currently on g60style CM7 5-20-12. CM7 is my daily driver with nothing added.

A few questions...

Does anyone else use the GApps from goo-inside.me? they seem to work fine for me.

Has the camera stuff been (slowly) worked out? I don't record many videos but I do use Video calls in Hangouts on occasion with the front-camera.

That's fine if you don't want Google Now.
Those are the ones linked in the first post (it's goo.im now).

If you want Google Now, you have to use the symlink gapps (also linked in the first post) because there isn't enough space on our system partition, (as explained in the thread linked in the first post).

So you are saying they should read the first post. Like every other ROM.

What's up guys? I'm still here just been busy.

You always have to flash Gapps with and ROM install, even updates. When you flash a ROM it wipes /system, and that is where Gapps, or the symlinks if you use that version, are installed. So with any ROM flash you also have to flash Gapps if it is required.

Hope this helps.

Huh, never had that coming from other devices (encore, p3113, etc) where I regularly flashed whole ROMs without having to re-apply the GApps zips.

anyway, I had to drop this one for sanity. Within an hour it was sluggish and bad, to the point I couldn't use it.

The default to use the Tablet UI in a bunch of apps made it *visually* hard to use.

@thangfish: Missed that the goo.im ones were the linked packages! Is there a version that doesn't come with GMail and such?

Does this not have the ability to access the notification pane from the lockscreen like normal ics or am i missing something?
I know the notification bar works on lockscreen while in phone mode. It's been a while since I used the tablet bar though. But I always pull down the notification bar while on lockscreen.

Thanks for your work on this. Tried it and noticed seems to have same issue I ran into on the other CM9 build, so just fyi.

1) Wireless access point doesn't work - Specifically it appears to work but actually disconnects cell data, I didn't even bother trying to associate once I saw it wasn't going to work even if I could

cheers

Tried it again, you're right it does work, though I lose connectivity on the MT phone itself and the hotspot and data icons are grey. My other CM devices when acting as a hotspot don't lose connectivity but that's fine, that's what threw me off.

Seems rather flaky and hard to stay associated with it for long... I also noticed this in the CM7 build, at least the one where I can make the portable wifi work, hard to stay associated... :/ going to experiment more see if I can do anything to make clients stay associated better, or look for some logging on what's going on.

thanks for the reply.

So would this tether on Virgin? And have a working camera? And how would one go about finding it? The CMod site asks you to select a specific phone before downloading, and Triumph isn't one of them. I could really use a straight-up recommendation for hassle free rom. Many thanks.

And to add on what he said, triumph is not official cyanogenmod because we have had to change too much.

Honestly for a daily driver I'd go with the latest cm7.
