Nexus 5 Pre-Release/Speculation Thread

Yeah, right now i have a pantech burst. i was considering upgrading to an HTC One this time around as an early Christmas present to myself until I found out that the Nexus 5 would be out soon. The features i use the most are navigation (because I get lost going EVERYWHERE), tethering (because the memory's so darned small that i need to carry around my tablet, too), texting (which makes me nervous because of the hangouts thing), and of course, I'm an app hog. A good speaker would be nice. The one I have now is crap and I love my audiobooks. A "good" camera *meaning it can take pictures when i forget my camera, which is most of the time* is good, but my standards are pretty low because of the one i have now. LOL so i guess almost anything would be better than what I have as long as it tells me where to go, and can text and use apps. :D

Nexus 5 will be sweet for you then. The speakers will be good I'm sure but nothing like an HTC One speaker on their latest phone (boom sound). The camera is looking to be shapping up good this time around on the Nexus 5. SMS and Hangouts are now or will be integrated. You won't have to worry about privacy or annoyed by anything. It'll be no different than iMessage for the iPhone or BBM for the BB. Also, it'll be equivalent to how iPhone's use FaceTime. If you see a friend logged into Hangouts or available you can call them whether they're on their PC or device. Even if they're using an iPhone that has Hangouts. Just know you'll be able to continue the conversation right where you left off when jumping from one phone to another or PC. Your normal contacts will only be able to contact you. Audio books on the big screen or more so listening in this case will be fine as well I assume. You use your phone as it should be which is a phone and occasional use of your interest. Only way you'll have a bad experience is if you get a faulty device. May God forbid. Being it's a Nexus phone you'll have the latest software so apps will be supported for sure. Plus Google has a way of updating their core apps apart from their OS and usually supports devices way back. You're good to go. Forgive any bad spelling and what not. Typing from my Note 3 on the go.

There's 3 downsides of a Nexus device, and they're always to same going in.

1) No expandable storage. All internal.
2) Being on the latest version of android before anyone else has it often leads to app issues in the early weeks because developers haven't updated for the new OS. This goes away fairly quickly though.
3) Google takes it's sweet time releasing it. :banghead:

Lol, back for another round of Nexus rumor head-bashing :banghead: :p

Yea it's always fun this time of year to jump back into the Forums Full force for a nice round of Nexus rumors. Every year we go through the same paces with Google just taking it's sweet time with giving us a release.

My personal opinion is that they (Google) really should start doing BIG releases inside a venue with a BIG bang. I mean Android and the Nexus program are Big enough to support a release of this nature, especially if the price point is similar to the nexus 4.

Will I be getting a nexus 5 is a question I really didn't ask myself until I was in the Apple store dropping BIG $$$ on an iphone 5s...The Price point Google and LG had put together for the nexus 4 was just the tip of the iceberg, If they truly release the n5 at the same price point, with these awesome specs we've been reading about and it's built well, then Jeeeeez...this will be one for the ages and I will have to shake my head at myself for spending $900 on a 5s..lol

There's usually a few quality/volume mods you can flash if you're the rooting type

I agree, better to start with would be nice though :)

I tried two of them and wasn't impressed with the quality aspect. Yes they made the phone a bit louder, in terms of notifications, but I couldn't quite dial in the quality aspect. Knowing nothing about audio or how to properly adjust it certainly didn't help.

I hope the speakers are better than the N4. I can't stand the speaker on my N4, not only due to quality of the sound but also the low volume.

I think the LG G2 supposed to have some type of fancy audio type file. Hopefully that made it into the Nexus 5.

On another note, Sprint has developed a new technology to improve their network data speeds. In limited areas for now. I'm posting this link because not until November is when phones made from LG, Samsung, HTC, and Sony I believe will take advantage using tribands. Could the Nexus 5 have this or a little too late.?Sprint's 'Spark' technology enables cellular data speeds of up to 60Mbps | The Verge

Yes, Sprint's Nexus 5 supports tri band LTE.

Edit - And there is no mention of Sony :)

You could always sale it and make some of the money back then purchase the Nexus 5. You'll make plenty back being the iPhone 5S and new. 64GB I'm assuming with the price you paid. Swappa.com or bid on eBay. Easy $500+ at the least, and that's after PayPal takes their 2.7%. Swappa.com is better in my opinion. They don't take anything from the seller. They just put your device $10 higher then what you're selling it for so the buyer pays that fee. Or if announced in time you could take it back and get all your money back. If the Nexus 5 is still on your list of interest once "official"

I was thinking it was tri band as well, not for their new network I'm assuming (mentioned in the article). It's just tri band because it supports CDMA as well as the other existing networks. If I'm wrong correct me please. Not exactly sure. Because their new TD-LTE is really new. I feel like that would've been mentioned in earlier articles.

Update :

Okay, here are 4 already announced phone that will support the new Sprint Spark networkhttp://www.phonedog.com/2013/10/30/sprint-spark-tri-band-lte-network-technology-announced-will-be-supported-on-four-upcoming-phones/

No, it supports all three of Sprint's LTE bands (25, 26, & 41) in addition to AT&T's and T-Mobile's LTE bands. Furthermore, it supports CDMA BC0, BC1, & BC10, and no one else on the planet uses BC10 other than Sprint.

Yep, FCC documents revealed this support on the D820. So that means it supports it hardware wise. Still going to need Sprint to approve it's usage on their network though.

But can I use this phone on T-Mobile when my Sprint contact is up?

EVLeaks: Nexus 5 coming to Sprint

I would imagine, though it remains to be seen how the Sprint situation will be handled. If you can buy it unlocked from Google then I don't see why it should be an issue. If you have to get it from Sprint with the usual CDMA carrier locks and SIM locks in place, then you might need to unlock it first.
