Root How To Install SlimBean 4.3

Just so people over here know, this is a very slick install. Easiest I've ever done. Having a bunch of fun with Slim right now, and so far great battery life! Thanks for doing this for us guys :)
Thank Serdar Kurt on G+ for the ROM and stuff. I simply made it easy to install by integrating it with an Aroma installer. :p

Check the original post for the G+ community and thank him there. :)

You need to wipe everything. Factory reset only wipes /data, /cache, and /datadata.

You need to wipe:
/system
/cache
/data
/cust

I never wiped for this ROM (mostly because nothing said to wipe when I read the instructions) and haven't had any issues.

One huge issue I did have is when I hit "Default Installation" and it started flashing the updated CWM recovery, my phone rebooted and went to AT&T Fastboot and was stuck there. Luckily I kept the files from the original CWM Fastboot flash and it accepted it. Went back into the touch installer and installed each item individually (in the order it's listed) and had no other problems.

I think this ROM is great, the battery life in the last day has been phenomenal. I installed the ROM about 45 hours ago and yesterday charged it only 30 minutes in the car and since installing, I have only run down the battery maybe 10%. Granted, I have data disabled and have had less than a dozen calls but it was getting to be that I would have to charge my phone fully every other day.

Were you running SlimBean 4.1.2 or SlimBean 4.2.2? If so you don't need to wipe data as it'll just act as an upgrade.

Also I agree about the battery. Great lasting power.

Yes, 4.2.2 :) That's why then. Yesterday the phone restarted on me after ending a call but I got a restart every so often with other SlimBeans so, with limited testing, I think I can say this is the best ROM yet.

On a side note, thanks for cross-posting this from Google Groups. I hate the way that is laid out, can't find info and poorly organized. Nothing to do with the group, it's just Google's layout. Call me a traditionalist/old timer but I just like a forum.

This is superb, the moment I get a new Fusion 2 (still working on it) I am going to put this on and test it out.

Looks awesome!

AT&T still has them for pretty cheap:
AT&T Fusion 2 (U8665) GoPhone (Refurbished) (Certified Like-New)

Hard to find a deal like that on eBay, especially with a warranty. All of my refurbs have been immaculate. Granted, I did have one phone that stopped reading a microSD card but it might have been card-related. I bought 2 Fusion 2's from AT&T and they've been going strong for months now.

If i install this rom (slimbean 4.3) as posted in the OP, what bugs are currently in the rom? Will I lose 3G calling and texting? I dont really use 3g for data so I dont care about that.

If I DONT lose 3g calling, what other steps do I have to do to get this to work? I already have the fusion 2 rooted but I havent installed cwm on it.

Thanks for the info :)

*edit*

I just read this post
http://androidforums.com/fusion-2-a...-read-before-flashing-ics-jellybean-roms.html

So letme get this straight. Upgrading the ROM will BREAK the 3g unless you back up the imei before hand and then reflash it using toolbox5irom ?? I hope I understood that right lol

Yes, do backup with the toolbox app and all will be fine. Just make sure to copy your IMEI files off the phone before doing anything, that way it's safe in case your memory gets wiped in whatever path you decide to take.

Ok im probably going to try this out tonight. Will post with any issues/comments! Thanks for the great information gathering everyone. This is a nice little phone and I like making tweaks to it (I had the original fusion and this one is superior in every regard).. although... now that the nexus 5 just came out.. it looks very very nice  only 349$ unlocked with kitkat

It does but if we all could afford that, none of us would have Fusion 2's :) I'm quite happy with my Fusion 2 and Hisense Sero 7 Pro setup, especially at half the price.

Good luck (not that you need it) and do post if you have issues!

Lol aint that the truth! Phones are so expensive

So bad news is.. the link in the OP is dead (for slim beam 4.3) and in the G+ profile it looks like the post was removed. I am speculating, but I believe this is because there was some bugs in the rom that caused a soft brick

Good news is that also from that G+ group I downloaded the 10.2 CWM aroma installer.. All I have to say is WOW!!! Why didn't I do this before. The phone is so much faster and all the jelly bean features are great! One of my favorite new toys is the Voice+ app. It allows any texts you recieve/send to go through google voice and show up in the main messaging app. I have been looking for something like that for a long time!

I tested camera/camcorder/phone call/lock screen/wifi performance/speaker quality/gps (and more) and they all worked great. No issues at all.

The only problem I came across was trying to use one of my fav apps, GrooveIP. When I made a call through GrooveIP the other party couldnt hear me (one way audio) . Spent about 30mins messing with the settings and found the fix! All I had to do was go to Troubleshooting --> Mic Source --> VoIP. Voila! Fixed.

Thanks again for the tips everyone :smokingsomb:

Here's a link to the SlimBean 4.3 Aroma installer:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/464376/phone/fusion2/SlimBean_AROMA.zip
(MD5: A13D430145209861511878386CF64B26)

I have it on 2 phones and don't have ANY issues at all. I think it's even more stable than 4.2. So far I've had less crashes/restarts (1 in 2 weeks). As for the density, I did try changing it but used the built-in function. The only issue I had was the the density only went lower for some reason (everything got much larger). There is a density app on the market that is notorious for soft bricking devices (it bricked my tablet but a CWM recovery saved it).

Well, I shot myself in the foot.
I have followed all of the directions to the letter, aside from making a back up of the stock rom.

I felt certain I would be able to flash this.
I have flashed my Nexus 7 dozens of times as well as an older ZTE phone and never had any issues with flashing either of them.

No joy. My Fusion2 is stuck at the at&t boot screen, which I guess is fast boot.

I am able to get in to CWM with no issues. I have tried every rom in these threads and get the same results every time. It stays at the at&t boot.

I have the IMEI backed up on my PC.

Does anyone know here the factory roms can be downloaded from?

Thank you

Update.. I got CM 10.2 flashed and running. The keyboard keeps crashing though.

My phone went into Fastboot too the first time I tried to flash:

One huge issue I did have is when I hit "Default Installation" and it started flashing the updated CWM recovery, my phone rebooted and went to AT&T Fastboot and was stuck there. Luckily I kept the files from the original CWM Fastboot flash and it accepted it. If you need the Fastboot CWM install to fix your phone (what worked for me), here's the files:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/464376/phone/fusion2/CWM 6 - HF2.7z
Basically, when you are stuck at the logo, plug your phone in, extract the files and run "Instalador.bat". It will re-flash CWM and reboot to CWM and you can get in and restart the Aroma installer.

I got the AOKP 4.22 running on it and all looks fine so far. If I am remembering correctly, I now need to restore my IMEI files. The phone says it is out of service.

Success!
Everything is working great.
Only thing missing is the FM radio app. Does anyone know if an apk exists to restore the FM Radio?
I pulled the apk from my wife's Ascend Y and my Fusion refused to install it.
