N5 Activation on Sprint

That's good to hear. I'm ordering my nexus this week and can't wait. How do you like it so far?

I am so jealous I don't have it yet. I am patiently waiting and so excited to get it in my hands.

Absolutely love it so far. 4.4 gets some getting used to, but overall I think theres more good changes than bad. I plan on doing a proper write up this weekend once I get some quality time with the device activated. Until tomorrow night, its just a small wifi-only tablet :p

No lag, camera is good (better than previous nexus devices, but don't expect HTC one or S4 level on the camera software side of things), and google now is very tightly integrated with the whole experience.

Does anyone know if Sprint will carry a subsidized 32GB version? Also if they do will it be the same as one purchased from Google or will it have extra bloat/updates from Sprint and not from Google?

The phones from sprint are the exact same as the one from the playstore. Only difference is they'll already have a sprint SIM.

As of right now they only have announced carrying the 16gb

PS.... Good to see ya in here! :D

Fantastic I will be looking for all the reviews!

the sprint dude I just spoke to said:
"the sim card is only necessary for international travel on gsm networks; and isn't necessary to activate the phone. but I (the sprint dude), can't say whether the phone itself requires the sim to activate."

can anyone clarify this? is the sim needed by sprint or the phone?

Thanks!

That guy doesn't know how it works;)

The Sim is needed for LTE, nothing to do with gsm

The phone needs a sprint Sim. It won't activate on their network without it. Believe me, I tried yesterday to activate it on their CDMA network without one. The guy at the store said yeah no problem, ended up having to call in to someone else and was then told they cannot activate it without one

Sprint is a complete mess when it comes to the N5. My phone was delivered today. I called up Sprint and they knew exactly what sim I needed offered to send it out to me in 3-5 days or I could go to a sprint store. So I go to a sprint store and the rep was completely shocked that Sprint even has sim cards, he first told me Sprint doesn't use sim cards. I then referred to the S4, htc one and iphone 5s (as well as i had a sim card with my photon) and the he said it's for international use only (which isn't the case with the S4 and One), I got fed up and left. There is a non corporate store a couple of blocks away, walked in mentioned the nexus 5 and they immediately knew what I needed. Sadly they didn't get their shipment in of cards in yet. ended up calling sprint back and getting a card shipped.

Unfortunately, you got a misinformed rep.
The product hasn't even launched on Sprint yet, and won't for 2 more days. I'm not surprised they don't have SIMS in stock.

That's so bad reps are like that esp at the stores. It makes me mad and when they do call or get a good rep they have had it with stupidity and unleash some anger. Unfortunately it happens with every line of business some rep not paying attention or lazy and does that crap

What got me was when he said they don't have any sims in any phones, then when I pointed out the examples he changed his tune. I figured I wasn't getting anywhere there and there is a another sprint store a couple of blocks away.

I know it's a couple of days early, but 2 days isn't 2 months, he should really read his corp email, they have memos out about it. I can understand not having the cards in stock yet, but not knowing about it completely is not good at all.

Thanks its been awhile since I have been able to do anything, I started college and various other things. Hopefully I will be making my presence known more in the coming days. Really bummed that Sprint won't have 32gb, means I have to buy from google and spend $200 more.

That is bad as they have sent out emails and we got info on the specs and price and so forth. I have made sure my team is fully aware of what's going on.

About the 32gb I am bummed too as I was hoping sprint would get it. I'm having to do the same and get thru Google as well.

Yeah, it is a shame that reps in stores for any wireless carrier here are so hit or miss. Some of it has to do with the fact that these companies don't want to pay a real wage to attract many "experts" to the jobs. The worst part is that for most customers, this is good enough. It really makes me appreciate the good reps when I get one.

A lot of is I think the reps in stores are younger and are just there for the money nothing else. They just use the job as part time thing until they find something better or just to make some money n that's it. Not even knowing if they had more knowledge they might make more or ppl might actually deal with them

Yeah, totally agree with this.

Leave off the last number of your imei. It should go through

I made sure maybe 3 times the rep was doing so. She claimed she was. Actually, I never gave her the last number.

Regardless, got it done at the store. Ultimately, we did a hard reset to start from scratch with the SIM installed. I had fired it up originally without the SIM to get the initial update done.
