Hey Everyone,

I Have the Galaxy S3 Metro CDMA and I need to convert to a GSM phone soon. I would love to buy a high end phone from the store because I like to have insurance . (it's reassuring to have as a college student) also i would like to keep my grandfathered plan. Any idea what possible deals we may see for Black Friday?

Although I do not know what the new 2013 Black Friday specials are going to be, I CAN confirm that if you currently have a CDMA phone and want to keep your grandfathered plan, that you can NOT upgrade to a more current GSM phone. Please take that into consideration when deciding to upgrade phones. You will need to change your plan to the current crop of $40, $50, or $60 plan.

As far as speculating what the 2013 Black Friday specials are going to be, I can only give you my ideas based on what I see.
1. All of the current promotions they have now will expire on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving.
2. If we compare this year to what they did last year, we can expect the deals to begin on Thursday, Thanksgiving day. (if any stores are going to be open)
3. Lets hope that the Galaxy S4 and other higher end phones will be deeply discounted (maybe a couple hundred dollar discounts?) I highly doubt that they would discount any phone above the 50% retail threshold.

But then again, that's just me speculating on the madness that is called Black Friday. Good luck!

I'd love to see some new phones in MPCS market soon but with given time period.. I doubt it.

I think they will just put discount and rebate on current line ups (L9, F6, Vitria, S3, S4..) only. Also please note there hasn't been any promotions lately that I know of.. I am assuming MPCS is saving them for Black Friday :p

For new phones, I think they will come out around Christmas season.

No matter what GSM phone you get from Metro you are not going to be able to keep your grandfathered plan. They are going to force you to switch. It doesn't matter if you purchased the phone at the store or through another retailer.

Interesting. So if I upgrade from my LG Motion 4g that I got when I signed up for the $30/month 4g plan to something like an S4, I'll lose my plan? I'd probably just drop Metro alltogether before I do that.

That's really a pretty silly position and I say that being still on CDMA myself.

New, better tech costs more.

Metro still has the best prices on both phones and plans even under GSM.

The only reason I have switched is that my CDMA coverage is fine here and there's nothing on any phone on GSM that I can't do with my current Spirit.

I stand corrected.

One of my friends who is authorized Metro PCS dealer told me that Galaxy Mega is coming within 1-2 weeks, aiming for Thanksgiving - Blackfriday sale.

Regular price will be $500 range but with a new number activation it will be close to $350

His information has been quite accurate so hope we can see Galaxy Mega soon :)

Erm, so I have a couple of questions that follow the line of questioning in this thread, so I don't want to make a new one since it might be redundant.

I have a dumbphone (my mother) and a CDMA Galaxy S3 (for myself). The S3 is on the $55 Unlimited plan. I currently pay $90/month for both phones.

I want to change the dumphone to an iPhone (I have one unlocked) since getting another dumbphone still requires the $40/month plan regardless.

My questions:

1) If I were to keep the CDMA S3 on the $55/month plan and get the iPhone on the $40/plan, would there be some sort of family plan deduction at all, or would I still be paying something around $95/month?

2) If I were to replace my CDMA S3 with another phone (S3, S4, Nexus 5) and get the $50/month plan on it, AND still get the iPhone on the $40/month plan, what would I be paying? (Would it be $80/month? Getting both at the $40/month plan is $70/month on the current promotion, so I figured I'd pay the difference).

Thank you for your time.

1) You'd be paying $85
2)$50 and $40 you'd be paying $80

What are you talking about?

While you're at it, name me all the other cell carriers that Don't give new customer Only promos.

I'll wait...

It's business wise Stupid to do Anything to stroke current customers. You. Are. Already. A. Customer.

No other carrier gives a flying frosted bat crap about their customers until it's time for your contract to end, then Maybe, if you know what buttons to push. Even then, you gotta work at it.

Metro pcs has always had discounts for their current customers. Now its only for new customers. that is what my point is. You defend them every chance you get. DO you work for them?

Metro pcs has always had discounts for their current customers. Now its only for new customers. that is what my point is. Why do you have such a hardon for T-mobile. You defend them every chance you get. DO you work for them?

They stopped doing current customer discounts long before the tmobile merger.
Why? They stopped the same time they started subsidizing phones. The LG Motion for example on initial release they were already subsidizing the phone $100 by selling it at 150 for everybody but to get new customers they threw in that extra $50 rebate later on. They spend that extra $50 to attract new customers.
One of the few prepaid companies to even subsidize the phones in the 1st place.

not true they were still giving discounts to current customers. I got the Lg Spirit on discount. when it first came out. That was only a few months before the merger started. These companies are short sided. Never sacrifice your current customers for what you may not get in the future.

I will defend most anyone from false, baseless, BS accusations.

It's none of your business who I do or don't work for, but it's not Metro.

If you hate them so bad why don't you find another carrier. It's rude, confrontational, and inciteful (thusly coming Very Close to being reportable) for you to ALWAYS come to a Metro forum and spread your hate.

If MetroPCS does not offer deals for an existing customers for black friday, there is no reason to defend them. We'd like to see some deals, it's not like we are on contract, we might walk away to a better deal and sell our devices on ebay, or unlock them and take it elsewhere. Everyone gets your point, but its not an excuse for them, especially that metro is part of bigger company now.
