Hey all.

Sometimes when I visit some websites it starts downloading the mobogenies apk. What is this and why does it download? Is there a way to prevent it? I usually go to the downloads app and delete it but it is starting to annoy me..

I had a similar problem when I visited a certain news website. Every time I went there, I would get a full screen request to download a game called "Candy Crush". If I cleared away the screen, it would just come back within 30 seconds. It made the website unusable. I downloaded Firefox but that didn't help. The same thing would happen when using my g/f's Galaxy Note 2. So for sure it was a problem with the website.

But it didn't download the software automatically like you mentioned. It just took me to the Play Store.

Thankfully this doesn't happen any more. Maybe enough people complained and they fixed their website.

I think the website is causing this. If I was going to a website and it was trying to download software without my permission, whether on my phone or my computer, I would NOT go to that website any more.

It would be interesting to know the URL of the website. I run Nortons Internet Security on my workstation and wonder if the site is flagged by Nortons as unsafe.

I've been looking for an answer to this also. My problem is slightly different as the mobogenie is automatically downloaded on my Samsung s4 as soon as I go on a particular site. What makes it a bit different is that I can use the same site, same exact pages, on my Samsung Galaxy tablet but with no problem whatsoever. This is on the firefox app on both devices. Can anyone explain why this isn't happening on my galaxy tab2 but is on my newer s4? I have only ever downloaded apps from the play store onto my s4 so have no dodgy apps installed. Any answer would be great as I am extremely suspicious of any company which allows unsolicited downloads of their apps, and I do not want it, the last time it downloaded 3 times! Have deleted firefox for now in case it is an issue with that.

My s4 mini makes exactly the same problem, regardless of what website is open, it downloads mobogenie 3 times everytime i browse the web. My phone is brand new, nothing installed, not integrated with any service or anything, accounts or mails are not set up.

Ow cmon, u really dont know the website ?

the mobogenie apk downloads automatically from the mobile version of the eporner pornsite somewhere halfway to a movie i believe. (The exact url i cannot share with you due to forum rules)

It seems to randomly occur, possibly from a 3th party banner, since when it occurs the regular popup does not show. Why mobogenie advertises on adultsites is unknown to me

regular online advertisement companies avoid adult and torrent/ download sites. There are special companies only targetting to this adult advertising market which is why u find adult adverisements on torrent sites

I have not scanned it for virusses yet, but a storage accesing app from adultsites is a defenite AVOID for me. And its wierd that mobogenie keeps targetting those

I've had the dreaded mobogenie pop up and auto download problem on a number of sites. Specifically Questionable Content (a PG-13 comic, not porn) and xda of all places. I think I remember reading it was just an aggressive banner ad through some usually benign advertising network. Nothing dangerous but just aggressive and annoying. Makes a website unusable until they sort it on their end or it cycles away. At least I think that's what I remember. I can't seem to find much of anything written about the problem now.

I am so annoyed by this stupid app. I can say that it's not just a website, but a lot of websites. Some of them send me to to the playstore page of mobogenie, but others download the file automatically without no permissions. I use my stock browser on galaxy s2. I once checked my friend's download list and mobogenie was like 30 times downloaded. Well I don' want to install it,so they should stop linking it to websites. I also have a popup of it right now that I'm writting here. http://imgur.com/BFxkZIJ

Hi, I came across with the same issue with mobo genie last month. The trick they used was to use the same icon for downloads as their downloader. To remove this:

1. Make sure you have uninstalled mobo genie market.
2. Go to App, and swipe until you see "All" you will see 2 Downloads icon there.
3. The Downloads with no size is the legit one. Keep it, if you long press and select App info you will see that it's something related to your firmware.
4. The 2nd Downloads icon is the culprit, with a version of 2.02xx. Long press it, select App info then uninstall.

Hope this helps.

Mobogenie is common crapware:

Mobogenie*is a*potentially unwanted programwhich uses the OpenCandy, Quick Downloader, Conduit and various other monetization programs to bundle with third party installers.

Mobogenie is a program that can be used to transfer pictures and other data between your PC and phone, however very often users have no idea where did it come from, so it
