What do you like and don't like about about hangouts?

conversation styles are nice and clean +100
Nice animations +100

Still some performance problems -100
Still some bugs -42 (crash on long video hangouts)
Notifications are ridiculous -9000

(I like hangouts a lot but the notifications are waaaay too spammy)
-> Exit video call
-> notification "You were in a video call"
me: "uh.... thanks google?"

i love the integration, having everything in one place is really nice and fluid to the conversation.

I miss being able to set different notifications for different contacts. there are a couple of people that i want a unique sound for to make me pay attention/ respond quickly.

Hangouts is fine for me I like:

The interface, neat and tidy.
Emoji good fun and far too much use of the dancing man!
I don't really mind that Hangouts and SMS are not threaded

Don't like:

I found out that long SMS MAY be treated as MMS by the N5/Hangouts which are chargeable. I certainly got some MMS charges I otherwise can't explain.

Big fan of the swipe left/right to go between things, but have accidentally archived messages by doing it as well.

Coversation window looks great, esp with how images are displayed.

However, use WhatsApp for 95% of messaging conversations and that won't change just yet.

I like everything. It's far superior over iMessage in ALMOST every way.

What I don't like though:

- Can't send files, or videos.
- Checking the Hangouts message sometimes does not remove the notification.

I'm not the biggest fan. I don't use g+ , so I don't ever use the "hangouts" portion of the app.

I switched back to a more traditional SMS app

my one and only issue with Hang outs is the first time you open it with the icon, or when you open it after you clear it from your application log, it takes 1-2 seconds to load all your conversations. Yet if it is still in your application log it loads instantly. so i solved this by just never swiping it away, but still was kind of a annoying.

I noticed it shows at what point in the conversion is the other contact and also the 3 dots are jumping when the other is typing/sending like when your in "sending" status.

Yes! And why do my SMS messages list not in order? All my messages are on top.. Not in the order of the conversation.. Wtf?

that is weird and not normal.... a reboot? or uninstall updates/reinstall updates for hang outs.

That's how android has integrated multi-person chats.

It used to send them all 1 by 1 and you'd get the responses separately, but when it sends them as MMS you'll be able to get all the responses in 1 thread

I don't mind Hangouts (I used it a lot via G+ on my desktop) and the integrated SMS/MMS. It's a little weird to have to look to see which conversation you're opening but it make sense to integrate SMS/MMS into Hangouts so that you have one app handling it all but I'm not sure what the work-around is for Google in terms of the conversations.
Maybe it doesn't bother me as much because I don't know any different. I've never had an Android before.
The only real negative I've seen with Hangouts so far is how it diminishes the quality of a photo once uploaded via the app.
