Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Andy Kaufman fans?

Did anyone else see the video of the girl that comes up on stage claiming to be his daughter during the Annual Andy Kaufman Awards?

If it is real, then he actually faked his own death like he wanted to. If it is an act, she put on a good show. Or maybe the girl and Andy's brother were in on it together?

Morning everyone. So I gotta say I really like the Moto G business model. The carriers new contract free emphasis is contributing to that. Perhaps finally we will see some downward pressure on phone prices. :) I'm going to try very hard to hold on to this phone and get rid of the extra lines on my account that I have been using for upgrades.

Last night was an adventure. I had several things to do once I got home and I actually got every single one done on top of going to church :)

-My new camera came in so I had to get it out and charge the battery so I could test the lenses I had bought used so I could leave the guy feedback. Everything checked out as expected so I went ahead and upgraded the lens firmware to make use of the new focusing methods of the camera which has major advantages over the previous generation.

-I had to purchase an upgrade to Adobe Lightroom because 4.4 didn't support the new Fuji X-trans sensors RAW files. Once I did that I had to update the upgrade to the latest release candidate. Then I had to re-import my entire photo library.

-The last thing on my list was to fix my N7. Discovered yesterday that I couldn't boot into recovery and I had lost root due to the last 4.3 update that was pushed out. Downloaded Wug's and tried every driver method for Windows and couldn't even get the toolkit to recognize the N7 was even plugged in. Decided it was time try it manually about 9PM after a couple of hours of futility. Booted into Ubuntu and discovered I had an outdated ADB after searching for why my device was listed as "??????". Loaded up the SDK Manager and updated the tools, but still wouldn't work...turns out it didn't update my ADB. Back to searching....found a suggestion to clear the cache on the SDK Manager and voila! It worked. Started going through the comands for a complete wipe of the tablet. No problems. Fastboot flashed the bootloader.....failed. Didn't panic...back to Google. Search revealed the bootloader for build JWR66Y wouldn't properly load but the JWR66V from the previous version would and was compatible. So I downloaded that, flashed through fastboot. Flashed the 4.3 stock image. Everything booted up perfect! :D Decided while I had ADB going I would go ahead and flash the latest TWRP, make a backup, and try flashing 4.4. 15 minutes later I had KitKat running flawlessly :D What a difference it makes! So much smoother running on the N7 than 4.3 was.

Whew, busy night! Get it over with now, you aren't going to get much time here shortly! :)

Still waiting on 4.4 for my Nexus 7s. One good thing about Verizon messing with the GNex, I actually had a good reason to unlock and root. Don't see a reason on the N7, except for the couple days I am waiting for the OTA to arrive. :p

Haha, yeah, I figured I better get it all set up while I had the chance.

I really was just going to go back to 100% stock on the N7 and wait for the OTA, but in my searching for other problems, I found the 4.4 OTA and it was fairly easy to install, so I just got that out of the way too :D

Hey everybody.

Weird issue on my G2. I'm not getting any text messages from people with iPhones. Which, unfortunately, are all of my friends and family.

Anyone ever run into this?

I have a friend who recently purchased an android phone, used to have an iphone. He wasn't getting any texts from iphone people either.

I think you need to do something with your previous iMessaging configuration. I've seen this in the past (here at AF) but I haven't used an iDevice or iMessaging so I don't know the particulars.

Bah...I had the launcher ripped from a Nexus 5. Transparency worked, swipe to left for Google Now worked, no widgets in launcher, long press on home brought up menu for widgets. Just like an N5...except the keyboard came up every time I pressed Home while in another app. Loaded the Launcher ripped from Google Play and everything is gone, but so is the keyboard.

Fixed the iPhone problems. I had to unregister all of my past crapples on iTunes, and now I'm getting them.

I love my G2. Rooted, Loki'd.

I tried a custom ROM (Vanir), but for some reason the whole JB stock android rom bores me now, so I restored my G2 stock nandroid backup.

I actually really like the G2 UI. It's very fast, and bright.

The one thing I thought I'd miss from the Note 3 (being able to annotate a screen shot of something and text it to someone) is actually a feature of the G2 as well, and I'd forgotten.

I wish I could french kiss this phone. I mean I could, but I wish the phone had a tiny little tongue to french me back with.

Oh well.

Han, I'm with you. For being on stock Android for the past couple years on various devices, LG's interface is nice and fresh. Some of it is terrible, but a lot is useful.
I'm running CleanROM which is essentially a debloated stock ROM. It's been a little sluggish lately so I may look into Maladus tomorrow.
Great thing is the LG camera software is available to install if you want to go AOSP and not deal with the crap stock Android camera app. :)
