Hi everyone,

Having a major issue with my s3. I have looked around alot of forums and have found people with the same issue however cannot seem to resolve the problem.

I took my phone out of my pocket the other day, and it had switched itself off and will just repeatedly flash the samsung logo over and over. Every so often I could get it to turn back on for ten minutes or so before it would turn itself back off. When placed on charge the battery icon would flash between full and empty, which led me to believe the battery was screwed so i bought myself a new one, with no success!

Forums i have read have told me to either reinstall firmware or to do a factory reset. I managed to to reinstall my firmware which was successful for around 2 hours before the same problem restarted.

The second option was to perform a factory reset. I have been trying to do this, but the problem is my phone wont stay on long enough for me to reach the factory reset option! I did manage to get there once... Only for my phone to cut out 10 seconds into the reset.

Thanks for any help!

Im not sure what the problem is but do you still wana do factory reset?
If so, turn phone off, hold in Power, Home and Volume UP at same time until you get into recovery mode, use the volume keys to scroll down to factory data reset, hit Home to select it.
Try that then come back.. if it works then one of your apps is causing the problem since you say youve reflashed it?

Hi Funkylogik.
This was one of the issues im having. When i try and get into recovery mode (whilst phone is off) it will reach the stage where the green man appears then cut out, back to the flashing samsung logo. I managed once to get to the factory rest stage, but the phone again cut out a few seconds into the reset

It really does sound like the power button is stuck. How confident are you at taking things apart and giving it a little clean?
Actually wana try something crazy 1st? Hold the hoover/vacuum cleaner (just the tube) right against it and maybe suck out some gunk! It worked for me on the buttons of an old dumb-phone once
