Help How to view a cached map offline in Maps?

Ok, so I downloaded a map covering central London for offline viewing, but how does one view it? In the previous version of Maps, it was to be found under "my maps", but there is no such thing in the new version. If I try to use Maps whilst offline when I zoom in on the area, it doesn't resolve.

If you've cached the area successfully you'd see this map area when you're offline.
But when you zoom in you won't get all the details as being online, small streets' names got lost and buildings lost their 3D view.
You know also that you won't get search or navigation calculations while you're offline?

Thank you for that, yes I'm aware of the fact that you lose some detail offline, but in my case, it's really low res, like what you get when you first launch Maps and it takes a while for all the detail to come to full resolution. It's pretty unusable! Perhaps downloading the whole of central London was too much? It did say the map was successfully downloaded, or cached.

Just tried it ... you're right ... I got big parts of the cached area only as low res, as rectangular shapes, seems to be tiles.

That's exactly it, just big tiles, hardly any detail! So it's not just me then, very disappointed with this new version of Maps!
I'll give MapsWithMe a go, thanks for pointing it out to me!

There are a number of mapping apps that store their map data locally. I personally use a paid app called CoPilot Live which allows you to select the maps to download to your device depending on what part of the globe you are dealing with.

Just noticed something interesting, the USA version of CoPilot Live is $9.99 in Play while the EU version is $29.99. Not sure why the EU version is so much more expensive.
