Doing anything over the phone with Straight Talk is like a root canal.

Don't ever tether on ST! I got away with it for a month but the next month they didn't throttle me they CUT my data off completely after 2 days/1.5GB. The rest if the month royally sucked...

The nexus 5 on straight talk is not a bad option but you are most likely better off going with AIO wireless or if they have Metro PCS in your area then go with that.

So Straight Talk stinks with CS, but it has higher speeds than AIO, right? Isn't AIO capped at 8/mbs or something like that? Also, arn't both on ATT networks?

I switched from Verizon to Straight Talk to use the Nexus 5 with an AT&T SIM and so far I have been very pleased. They gave me a hard time about porting my number since the area code of my old number didn't match my current address, but being on the phone with them was so bad I didn't try very hard to keep it, so I just got a new number (root canal analogy is putting it mildly).

Coverage in my area (Carrboro, NC) with the AT&T SIM is excellent, voice quality is great. I'm not a heavy data user so I'm not worried about hitting the cap, but mobile data seems faster to me compared with what I was getting with Verizon (could be the new phone though)

be careful - speedtest apps can use A LOT of data. like 20MB+ per test.

While I was on the phone with rep #2 my old phone quit working and my port was complete (took about 30 minutes to port from Verizon). Entered the apn info, and all has been well.

Cause on ST's website, there is a micro sim for ATT or T-Mobile (unlocked) compatible...

I've never heard anyone announce to others about how good or great it is and that they should switch.

Network performance is completely based on location. Just because it is great/terrible in your location doesn't mean the same holds true elsewhere

Yes. I ordered the AT&T micro sim.
