Hey, I took apart my Evo 3d a couple of weeks ago to fix a simple wifi issue(Wifi won't turn on) and put it back together. Wifi worked for a week or so before I had the same issue again.

The problem is. after trying to take it apart again, I noticed that the screw driver isn't fitting in anymore(It doesn't unscrew(Problem is from the screws)). Is there any other way to take it apart? other than using a screwdriver?

I know this has little to do with the Evo 3D but I really need help and Google isn't helping

What about ESD protection? Anyone taking apart their EVO because they are merely curious or trying to repair their device without ESD protection is looking for trouble.

Please update your information to reflect the need for ESD protection. If you do not know what ESD is, ask Mr. Google. I think Radio shack sells cheap grounding straps.

Understand, once you zap a part, it cannot be fixed. And you are not out of the clear if your reassembled device seems to work. It might eventually fail because ESD weakened the fine wires inside the IC so they no longer handle the power they were designed to handle.

At some point your phone dies.

ESD is a killer to be sure.

Having hand built, taken apart and/or reassembled thousands of Palm Pilots, perhaps I am qualified to help you?

If the screw driver does not fit, look at the screws. They are not designed to be replaced over and over again. If you use a screwdriver that is not designed for the screw head size, you can damage the screw.

You also run the risk of having case damage from removing the screws and perhaps tightening them too much. The phone is not designed for user repair, so the problems you are seeing never occur in the factory. they are quickly built and passed down the line. Damaged parts are replaced with proper parts.

Sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties. Unfortunately, this repair does require you to unscrew the screws. We have replacement screwdrivers available on our site, but it sounds like the actual screws have been stripped. Best of luck!
